I have been tutoring for about ten years. My experience began as a peer tutor in high school and college, but has continued as a private tutor for the past four years. I am also a high school teacher, and have taught engineering courses, Foundations in Algebra, and AP Computer Science A. In addition, I have tutored students in a variety of subjects including Calculus AB/BC, Business Calculus, Precalculus, Algebra 2, Geometry, Algebra 1, SAT/ACT test prep, ASVAB test prep, and GRE prep.
I have students who I have been meeting weekly for several months. They would describe me as a patient tutor with strong content knowledge who cares about helping them achieve results. I believe that the goal of tutoring is to allow a student to be self-sufficient and confident with the content when a tutor is not there to help. I typically work problems alongside students so that they can see the problem solving process modeled. I also employ questioning techniques to get a feel for what students already know and to get them closer to understanding the content.
I look forward to meeting you and helping you achieve your goals!
