Q & A

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

In a first session I would meet with the student, and possibly their parents depending on the age, and discuss the subject. We would review the subject, where the student is currently, and where they want to be. From there, a schedule would be established, and we would be able to begin helping the student live up to their potential.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

A good tutor does not just feed information to a student but rather helps them realize how they can help themselves. As a tutor, I would introduce the student to different methods of learning and allow them to pick and choose what works best for them.

What is your teaching philosophy?

I believe that every student learns differently. Our world is ever-changing, and so our students, and their tutors, need to adapt to the specific needs of the student's learning style. My philosophy is to allow students to work through their obstacles in order to find the best learning method for them.
