I am an 8th grade Language Arts teacher with a passion for reading and writing. I love the way reading a novel can pick you up and bring you anywhere. Someplace magical, someplace mysterious. Writing is an outlet used for expression and can be very therapeutic. Finding your creativity is a fun way to get to know yourself better.

In addition to teaching, I am also the debate coach at my school. I'm an animal lover and in my free time I volunteer at many different animal rescue associations.

I am able to travel throughout both Westchester, New York areas as well as Fairfield County, Connecticut.

Q & A

What is your teaching philosophy?

My teaching philosophy is that anyone is able to learn- we all just learn differently. Our mind is a muscle that we can improve. Everyone has the power to grow intellectually.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

Get to know the student. Get to know their strengths and weaknesses. Get to know the material they are working on.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

I can help a student become an independent learner by teaching study skills, organizational skills, and helping students advocate for themselves in the classroom.

How would you help a student stay motivated?

If a student has difficulty with a skill or concept, I would break the concept down and teach the student the basics. Together, we would build a learning platform until the student felt comfortable with the concept.

How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?

Reading comprehension is a combination of vocabulary knowledge, fluency, and close reading. Together, we would work on these areas and break down the content until understood.
