I earned my Bachelors in Elementary Ed, with an emphasis in Spanish education and ESL. I have lived all over the United States and overseas as well! I have tutored online for other tutoring companies and have substitute taught as well as taught a home preschool class and worked in volunteer positions with children for the last 8 years. Q & A

What is your teaching philosophy?

My teaching philosophy is that any child or person can learn; it’s a matter of finding what works or ignites the spark in them!

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

In a typical first session with a student, I like to establish a base of what the student knows, where the student wants to be and what way the student learns the best.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

The key to helping a student become an independent learner is to help them find what motivates them through a subject that they find interesting.

How would you help a student stay motivated?

To help a student stay motivated, a student needs to be encouraged when it gets hard or frustrating to do the work. I will help them look back and see what they accomplished, and have confidence in that, which leads to a better motivation for the student.

If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?

If a student has difficulty learning a skill, the first step is to break it down. Once you break down a concept or skill for a student and then build upon it, it can be easier to find those patterns and concepts in other hard skills and concepts.
