We went over two proportion z-tests. The student just needed to see the formula/equation being applied once before being able to comprehend its application. We performed traditional test questions as well as confidence intervals. We then reviewed previous definitions and interpretations of results. He was fine on definitions, but needed a little help interpreting his results. I presented him a model of what to say when it comes to confidence intervals and p-value.

Tutoring review by Andrew in White Settlement, TX
I covered the concepts of solving systems of equations by substitution, adding and subtracting polynomials, finding the slope of each line on a graph, and finding the slope and y-intercept of each equation listed. The student struggled most with adding and subtracting polynomials. I don't think she has seen many higher degree polynomial expressions based on her reaction to them. I will work on this with her. She was pretty attentive to the material reviewed. The only study skills I introduced were to continue breaking the question into parts and solve the parts step-by-step. I left the student with the rest of the worksheets that pertained to the topics listed above. She is better than ever at graphing now. I feel like she has made a lot of progress in this area! Hopefully we can keep it up, and the student can continue to grow as a student! I can tell she does put a ton of effort into trying to learn what I am teaching her, as she is engaged, but just gets a bit confused at times. I am hoping that by the end of the sessions, with only five remaining, the student will feel better prepared for math, and feel that great progress has been made.

We finished chapter 14 and started chapter 9 today. Chapter 9 was saved for last because it heavily relies on reading and vocabulary skills and comprehension. Great work from the student today! He complete all of his homework and was very motivated in class. We will finish chapter 9 next week, which concludes our study of the textbook.

Tutoring review by Nathan in White Settlement, TX
Today, the student and I reviewed some problems that were giving her difficulty, as well as her study packet for her upcoming cumulative final exam. For the former, we reviewed integration, integration by parts and substitution, integration of trigonometric functions, and calculation of the average value of a function over a specified integral. On her review packet, we looked at finding local maxima/minima and inflection points and concavity and intervals, and discussed the graphical meanings of first and second derivatives. We also reviewed rate of change problems. She picked up the old material very quickly and shows a very good understanding of it. Her confidence has improved regarding new material, which is good since she has been doing a great job problem solving.

Tutoring review by Brad in White Settlement, TX
It was our first session, and after a brief intro to get to know each other, we got right to work. The student showed me the material they had covered until this point in his class, and highlighted where it started to be a struggle. We were looking specifically at some early geometry concepts, such as number patterns, and being able to identify a formula from a set of numbers. The student was focused and engaged as we worked through problems together. He had additional homework problems so I did not leave any extra material. We will review his most recent test next time, after he receives it back from his teacher. Overall it was a great first session!
