Tutoring review by Samia in West Lake Hills, TX
The student and I worked through her homework on the Mean Value Theorem and some questions from the homework on Implicit Differentiation. After this we spent a little bit on the harder questions from the practice quiz provided by her teacher. She will follow up with me via email or phone on any other questions she might have before her quiz on Monday. I also gave her a practice exam to help her prepare for her Chapter 2 Exam, which I believe is a week from Monday. We will follow up next week with extra practice and preparation. She has a strong math intuition. I want to work on building her confidence.

Last session with this student. We ended with a song - Estoy Aqui to emphasize present tense. We had looked at this briefly one previous week, but finished the song this session. We discussed ways he can continue to be active about looking for ways to improve and use his Spanish - he has a book he can keep learning from, and one of our main strategies has been to make flashcards for vocab and verbs. He feels confident using a lot of new vocabulary, present tense, and past tense verbs to a limited degree. I've very much enjoyed working with him.

The student and I discussed strategies for the two types of vocabulary questions: text completion and sentence equivalence. In addition, I suggested strategies he can use to improve his vocabulary, including learning words in context and in groups of synonyms. I also gave him a study plan for the math portion of the placement test.
