The rivers that run through the park make for great boating locations. You can swim, fish, or just troll through the waters of the river on a hot day. We continued discussing practice problems for the student's test this coming Tuesday. She seems comfortable with much of the material including calculating area and volume, graphing, conceptual problems, and simplifying expressions. We focused on two of the more challenging areas: 1) solving multi-step word problems and 2) solving for variables in an equation. She showed improvement in both, and, I think, will get more confident in these problems with more practice and repetition.

The student has her first math exam of the second quarter tomorrow. First, we solved a problem that she had questions on. Next, we identified the domain (and range) of various composite functions. We first identified the domains of individual functions, and with trickier ones, we plugged in various x-values and looked for any undefined y-values. She will let me know when she would like to meet next time.

Tutoring review by Nancy in Pitsburg, OH
The student and I worked on math today. He was working on expressions/ equations in class and I brought some math problems for him to work on to ascertain his knowledge/ ability with these kind of problems. He did well with them and the concept of order of operations as well. We also discussed his SS test that he got back from his teacher and stressed the importance of understanding the question when taking a test. I asked him again to date all the papers that he receives from his teacher so we can keep up with the projects and due dates he has.
