I am an adaptive mathematically inclined information sponge. I am able to help breakdown complex concepts and tie them to more easily digestible ideas. Reading the material and conceptually understanding is just the first step in being able to apply theory. I have found that there is no good substitute to working through problems and to learn by doing them. Even if you don't get the correct answer the first time, reworking them will deepen that groove of understanding. Then each time the topic comes up a more intuitive understanding can be obtained. In my time away from books I enjoy staying physically active, from boxing classes to weight lifting. It helps to relive stress and clear the mind to take on life's difficult problems with boldness.

I am a passionate nurse who loves to share that passion with others. I have been teaching nursing for the last 7 years. I have a Master's Degree in Nursing Education from South University. I regularly teach pharmacology, dosage calculations, and critical care. I also have experience teaching fundamentals, geriatrics, medical/surgical, and mental health.

I'm passionate about helping adolescents and young adults grow into stronger readers and writers. It is my goal to meet students where they are and help them to develop their skills as shrewd media consumers and creators. I chose to become an educator because I believe in the immense power of words to inform, and, especially, to inspire. I also believe literacy prepares young people to be shrewd, well-informed citizens who know how to recognize reputable sources within the myriad of information they encounter daily.
Devoted to fostering a love for learning, my approach to teaching kids is rooted in patience and genuine passion for their growth. I aim to create an engaging and supportive environment, where every child feels empowered to ask questions and develop the skills necessary for a bright and successful future.
I am a recent college graduate looking for opportunities to tutor and get involved with education before I attend medical school this fall. I have a bachelor's of science from the University of Akron and my academic areas of focus where I am best prepared to teach are animal and cell physiology, immunology, biochemistry, and preparing for the MCAT. I took the MCAT this past January and am hoping to share some of the techniques that worked for me while the test is still fresh in my mind. For the ACT I would feel comfortable teaching the reading and science sections since those are my strong points.I have always enjoyed working with college students and most of my tutoring experience has been in my science classes during college. Generally when tutoring I believe its most important to let the tutee fully explain what they don't understand and try working it out on their own, rather than me first launching into general strategies that might not work for them.Outside of the nitty gritty sciences I'm a big fan of history and literature, and would always be up for discussing those subjects with a student. When I'm not studying some of my main pastimes are playing piano and the electric guitar, playing poker, and hiking.

As far as my experience in education goes, I taught elementary school for five years. I've taught kindergarten, 1st grade, and K-4 Reading Intervention.
