My passion has always been in education. I have a Master's Degree from The Ohio State University in Early Childhood Education. I have many years of experience in elementary education. I love figuring out how learners can excel with my help.

I have been helping students learn science and math for my whole career. In fact, one of the reasons I earned my Ph.D. in chemistry was so that I could become a college teacher! I have experience working with students of all ages and experience, from elementary school math to graduate level chemistry, from community college to university, from pre-med to liberal arts student, and I particularly love helping students who are struggling to see the reason they need to know 'this stuff'! I am energetic, student centered (meaning I will ask you questions to understand where the trouble point is) and I like to come up with ways to help you see the patterns so that you will be able to solve problems you've never seen before as well as the ones in your homework. In my spare time I love to paint, write and read. I am an artist inside and a scientist outside! Truth is I love to see the beautiful parts of science in everything around us. If you like outgoing, energetic, excited teachers and tutors we will get along great!

I am currently working towards my Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Science and Linguistics at Ohio State University. I expect to graduate in Spring 2022. I really enjoy learning, and tutoring serves as an excellent way for me to add to my own education while guiding other students to a greater understanding of their own. I'm currently focusing on tutoring in computer science and math. I hope that we can enjoy learning together!

I have been a Special Education Teacher and Tutor for over 6 years. I have an Associate's Degree in Liberal Arts from Lorain County Community College, a Bachelor's Degree in Speech & Hearing Science from The Ohio State University, and a Master's of Education Degree in Special Education from Xavier University. Additionally, I have my Ohio Intervention Specialist K-12 Mild to Moderate Teaching License that I earned through Ashland University.The subjects I am most comfortable tutoring include Elementary Reading (comprehension, fluency, decoding, phonics, etc.) and Elementary Math, as I have the most experience teaching and tutoring students in these areas and grade levels (K-6). I have taught in public elementary, middle, and high schools at all grade levels K-12. I have taught in both brick-and-mortar and online settings.When I'm not teaching I enjoy baking, crafting, reading, watching TV & movies, swimming, and camping.

As a graduate from The Ohio State University, having graduated with a bachelor's of science in Zoology, I was a teaching assistant for comparative animal physiology, utilizing the tutoring style of delegator and facilitator in conjunction with the teaching philosophies of constructivism, essentialism, perennialism, and positivism. During my college career, I stumbled through pitfalls that I seek to guide others around so as to improve their learning experience and college career. In my TA position, I led a weekly recitation to help students reaffirm their understanding of lecture material, a skill I seek to bring to the topics of college biology and college physiology as I enjoy learning and tutoring subjects that are associated with evolution. Outside of academia, I follow my hobbies of chess and Star Wars.

My name is Brad Cotten, and I am a PhD candidate at The Ohio State University studying nutrition and biology. I greatly enjoy teaching students and sharing my research interests with others. Areas of studies I am experienced in teaching include mathematics, statistics, biology, chemistry, and writing. While committing to a professional and organized teaching environment, I am also aware of the benefit of making studies as fun and enjoyable as possible. I have witnessed such an environment is most conducive to promoting comprehension and application of studies.

I received my PhD and Masters from Ohio State University and my Bachelors from Michigan State University all in mathematics. I have worked as a professor for 14 years teaching across the standard undergraduate mathematics curriculum. I am passionate about helping people learn math and really love to help them make connections between topics and help them to succeed in their studies.

I received my Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Cincinnati. I then attended graduate school and graduated with a Master's in Electrical Engineering with a focus on electromagnetics and signal processing.Most of my tutoring experience has come from when I was in undergrad. I lead the Tau Beta Pi physics tutoring for mechanics for first year undergraduate students. Throughout the years, I have here and there picked up other math and physics related tutoring opportunities.I mostly tutor math and physics. This can be Algebra all the way up to calculus for math. With physics, I would prefer basic mechanics or something related to electromagnetics or analog electronic circuits.My favorite subject to tutor is analog electronics. I just enjoy the ideas behind it and understand it very well.My tutoring philosophy really stems from trying to get the most out of the student, whatever that may look like.Some of my hobbies are family time (2 boys), woodworking, electronics and a good story.

I attended Denison University in Ohio where I earned a B.A. in psychology, summa cum laude, with a minor in music performance (trumpet). I was a department fellow and tutor, primarily working with psychology and writing students, and also worked as a stage manager in the music department. After college, I headed to The Ohio State University where I earned a Ph.D. in cognitive psychology with a specialization in college teaching. While I was a graduate student, I taught general psychology and ACT prep courses and scored ACT and SAT writing exams. Thanks to my education, I am an expert in psychology, reading, writing, and general scientific literacy. As a teacher and a tutor, I have worked with students ranging from children to doctoral degree candidates. I like tutoring students individually because it allows me to tailor my approach to each student in a way that I could never do in a classroom. Outside of my work, I enjoy listening to music, bicycling, cooking, and occasionally playing my trumpet.

Human potential is remarkably distinct and unique to each individual. My approach to teaching focuses on leveraging these potentials to guide students in reaching their highest capabilities through mathematical concepts and theories. I value each student's unique abilities, preferences, learning needs, and support systems. I see myself as a guide to the next generation of geniuses and societal influencers. I capture their attention by building on their prior knowledge and creating necessary connections. My philosophy is that a teacher's role is to identify how their students perceive the world and then design methods that suit each student. Because of this, I appreciate every student and learn from their contributions to lessons. Don't be shy! Keep asking questions and participatingthis is my mantra. I do not only measure the effectiveness of teaching by end-of-semester results or external examinations but also by how these students apply mathematics in their daily lives.
