I have over ten years education experience working with all age groups around the globe. I started working in the Cincinnati Public Schools at the middle school and high school levels teaching English and Math. I then went on to teach four years in the Peace Corps living and working in the Federated States of Micronesia and Jordan. This included teaching at public and private universities.Back in the United States I have taught GRE and LSAT prep classes for individual students preparing for graduate school. I graduated with a masters degree from the University of Chicago. Since then I have been an instructor teaching MBA students at New Mexico State University. I am comfortable teaching a wide variety of subjects and look forward to the opportunity of working with many students to come

For the past six years, I've worked as a private nanny and tutor for several families in the Cincinnati area. I have experience with kids ranging in age from 5 through 17. As expected when working with such a broad range of age groups, I've also covered a variety of subject matter, from elementary reading to AP biology.Fortunately, helping kids achieve their best in school afforded me the opportunity to pursue my own education. I graduated cum laude from University of Cincinnati in 2015 with my Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics. Because of my background in the sciences, my favorite subjects to tutor are the life sciences, especially biology; however, I also have experience working with students in English and reading, both as general subjects and in preparation for the ACT.If there's one life lesson that my college career taught me, it's the importance of critical thinking not only for success in the classroom, but success in life beyond the classroom as well. I try to encourage the use of critical thinking and analytical skills in all of my tutoring sessions to challenge students to utilize the knowledge they already have to come up with answers they may be unsure about originally. This ensures that students fully comprehend the subject matter, so that they aren't just memorizing and regurgitating for a test. This style of teaching also allows me to really engage even the shyest of students, and most importantly, have fun! When I'm not teaching kids the importance of thinking outside the box, I really enjoy being active and working out. In high school, I played basketball and volleyball competitively, which carried over into a lifelong love of fitness and health. Somewhat contradictorily, I also love cooking (and eating), and will be participating in a recreational Culinary Certificate course at Cincinnati State in the fall. Not to be a total cliche, but my third favorite hobby is traveling. In college, I spent nine weeks backpacking through Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos. My next trip on the books is to Austin, Texas, to experience the Austin City Limits Music and Cultural Festival. If I'm not cooking at home, eating a strange food on a foreign continent, or trying to work off the calories from both those endeavors, you can usually find me hanging out at the dog park with my border collie.
I have a K-12 Integrated science teaching license and worked in the science industry prior to becoming a teacher. I worked as a Geologist, Geochemist, and paleontologist. I have taught students in science courses such as geology, geochemistry, earth science, meteorology, oceanography, and astronomy over the past twenty-five years. I have served as an advisor for students in many areas of discipline and have led Study Abroad learning experiences for students in both Australia and Hawai'i.Teaching has been a central part of my adult life and I strive to not only teach students but provide them with life skills such as understanding diversity, equity, and inclusiveness which I stress in all the courses I teach. Education is my life's work, and I impress upon others that it is critical for an improved quality of life, and I try to impart this appreciation to all my students.I enjoy hiking, collecting rocks, geocaching, and flying drones to produce aerial photos and videos. I have two students in college on the west coast.I look forward to working with you and finding out more about your needs.

Each day my philosophy of teaching becomes more focused and more precise. I work to assure that wisdom and knowledge are hallmarks of my classroom. This is not just a place to learn academics, this is a place to instill future personal success. And how does that future personal success happen? It begins with respectstudent respect for me and my respect for them. When a teacher earns that, shared values grow. Students--sometimes isolated or unsure or intimidatednow feel understood and appreciated. When their teacher models perseverance, resilience and hope, they feel someone cares, really cares. Now something great happensthe feeling of being accepted, being valued, being honored, being validated and being appreciated. What if there is a student reluctant to speak out in class? My students are safe, my rules are fair, my field of vision is inclusive and my belief is unwavering. Once that student speaks, even if the answer falls short, we help tweak it to perfection. Will that student speak again? You bet. Someone listened, even if just for a moment. My philosophy for teaching, you ask? Teachers believed in me the same way I believed in them. Passionate and caring teachers help them succeed. Great teachers go further. They show them how to live lives of promise, of anticipation, of happiness and of personal accomplishment. We move forward together, student and teacher, determined and sure of our destination, searching for the successful prize that waits out there, just ahead.

I am a graduate from the University of Cincinnati in Chemical Engineering (2016). I've had many years of tutoring under my belt in math (pre-algebra, algebra), science, and english. I am most passionate about math. The best thing about learning math is that it's not always about getting the right answer, but learning "how" to approach a problem. These skills, you can carry with you throughout life even if you forget formulas and equations.
I graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 2010 with a Bachelor's Degree in Spanish and Anthropology, with a minor in Latin American Studies. "There may be people that have more talent than you, but there's no excuse for anyone to work harder than you do."--Derek JeterI truly believe there is no reason a person cannot succeed because the only obstacle that stands in your way is yourself.Everyone is out here worrying about whether the glass if half empty or half full when the only thing that truly matters is whether it's refillable! Fill it as needed to get you to where you need to be!
State certified teacher taking the year off to focus on a master's degree in Instructional Design and Technology. I am certified to teach natural science and English language arts, reflecting my love for the natural world and great literature.

An engineer by day, I'm hoping to help others expand and deepen their understanding of math. I've tutored math while earning my degree and really enjoyed the challenge of approaching problems from many perspectives.
I graduated from the University of Cincinnati majoring in Physics, Astrophysics, and Mathematics. I am most passionate about physics, although mathematics is a close second. The beauty that unfolds in the equations is truly remarkable to me. I have been tutoring for over six years and have been a professional mathematician for four years. I also have experience working in experimental physics research. I find working with struggling students to be most rewarding, because I myself once felt completely incapable of learning math and physics. It was the patience and encouragement of my professors and classmates that made me into the confident scientist I am today. In my experience, understanding a student's unique perspective and preferences is the most effective way to guide them to form thorough understandings in their own way. My students and I often enjoy working through problems together step by step with ample room for questions, and they leave each session feeling encouraged in their capabilities. I understand what it is like to struggle to grasp concepts, and so I have endless patience for helping students through similar challenges. It is always worth the hard work when a student realizes--they could do it all along!
I'm a proud Colerain High School and University of Cincinnati alum who completed a Masters' degree in physics in 2016. My interests outside of academia include traveling, BMX, drumming, music, skiing, photography, videography, and anything adventurous. Throughout my four years of graduate school, I worked as a Teaching Assistant, which gave me the pleasure of teaching physics courses (lab and recitation), tutoring, and assisting in lecture classrooms. Since then, my tutoring experience has expanded to include a variety of subjects in science and math.I've always pondered why and how do things work the way they do, and I gladly help others do the same. I nurture confidence in learning by helping the student figure out what questions to ask in order to piece information together to solve problems. This directly benefits the student's approach in the future. When students have conceptual trouble, I reword definitions and use comparisons to get the point across and make it stick. I cater to the student's learning style and refuse to give up until better understanding of the material is achieved. I find the breakthroughs my students have when they grasp concepts to be personally rewarding.
I have been teaching High School math for 21 years at a small suburban high school. I thoroughly enjoy teaching Algebra (all levels) and have recently began teaching Introduction to Statistics. I can also tutor in Pre-Algebra and Middle School mathematics. I love this level of mathematics because the Algebra is like solving a puzzle. Throughout my time as a student, I have learned and implemented study strategies, schedules, and habits that have enabled me to succeed academically. I want to share my insights and work with students to help them excel. My approach is to identify areas where students want to improve and work to devise a plan that not only implements proven study techniques, but leverages students' unique strengths and learning styles. Because I believe that motivation for learning is half the battle, I work to instill confidence in my students and help them derive meaning and excitement from their time studying. In my spare time, I enjoy drawing, playing the piano, and solving chess puzzles.
I am a board certified acute care nurse practitioner. I have over ten years experience in cardiology and electrophysiology as a NP. I currently work part time in the hospital setting. As a nurse, I worked in neurology, neurosurgery and intensive care. I believe the human body is an amazingly complex work of art and mechanics. All of the systems of the body need to work together for optimal health. A major strong point of nursing is understanding no body system is separate and being able to look at a patient in totality. I love to teach and see the "ah-ha" moment when those concepts makes sense and can fit into that bigger picture of the human body. I also love when I get to have one of those moments as well. I believe you should never stop learning. If you stop learning, you stop growing. I spend my spare time gardening, cooking, hiking and with my children.
I earned both a Bachelor of Arts in English and Masters in Business Administration at Xavier University in Cincinnati, OH, and a Juris Doctor at the University of Cincinnati College of Law. During college I tutored high school students in algebra. I loved seeing both parent and child's sense of accomplishment and more peace in the home once the nightly math battles were over. In addition to tutoring algebra, I have college level corporate finance and written business communications. No matter the subject, I strive for a cooperative and interactive relationship with my students, so they master both the learning process and the subject area objectives. I'm a lifetime learner and enjoy reading, travel and time with family.
Since 2014, I've built a strong foundation in teaching and tutoring across various age groups and cultural backgrounds. My journey began at 16 when I became a Sunday School Co-Teacher, where I discovered my passion for teaching and learned how to create a nurturing and engaging environment for young learners. From 2016 to 2024, I expanded my experience by privately tutoring French and Arabic and volunteering as an ESL instructor. My students have ranged from 1st graders to adults with diverse goals. For younger students, I design interactive lessons incorporating games, stories, and visual aids to make learning fun and engaging. For example, I helped a 12-year-old student master French basics by using role-playing and songs to reinforce vocabulary. I also have experience in the health sciences field as in college I was a TA for my Biology professor and have had vast experience tutoring and correcting grades. For adult learners, I focus on practical, goal-oriented instruction tailored to their specific needs. I've guided professionals preparing for interviews, immigrants learning English for daily life, and hobbyists eager to explore a new language. One of my proudest moments was helping an adult student learn conversational Arabic to reconnect with family abroad, focusing on cultural nuances and practical dialogues to build her confidence. What sets me apart is my ability to customize lessons to suit each student's learning style and objectives. My approach for younger students is highly interactive, while for older students, I emphasize real-world application through role-playing, writing exercises, and multimedia resources. My goal is to make learning not just effective but also enjoyable and inspiring. Whether you're looking to build foundational skills, enhance your fluency, or achieve a specific goal, I am here to guide you every step of the way. Let's work together to create a personalized and enriching learning experience!
