I am a graduate of The University of Mount Union where I received my Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education. I furthered my education at Franciscan University and received my Master's degree in Education and Reading. Since graduation, I have taught 10+ years as a kindergarten teacher but have recent experience with 3rd grade students! I am passionate about student success in all areas but especially reading. My approach to teaching young minds is to do it in a variety of ways, depending on each student's learning styles and interests! We are all different learners and I love to harvest that for each student. I like to add music, physical activity, movement, and fun to all of my lessons! In addition to having fun while learning, I have clear expectations and manage behavior and time wisely. I absolutely love teaching/tutoring students! In my spare time, I enjoy family time spent with my husband, children, and pets. We spend much of our time outdoors and staying busy.

Reading comprehension and writing skills are necessary for success in school, the professional world, and daily life. I recently relocated to Houston with my husband and newborn daughter. Being a Cuban-American from Miami, I love the diversity of Houston and getting to try all the different ethnic foods, but my palate is still adjusting to spicy Mexican food! This past year I graduated with my Masters in History from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh where I was a Graduate Assistant. I attended undergraduate school at Franciscan University of Steubenville, where I graduated with the top GPA in my class. I discovered my particular interest in history as an undergraduate student, however I have a real passion for all of the humanities, such as literature, philosophy, theology, and political science.I have tutored a variety of ages and subjects, ranging from third grade math to college level languages. I have worked with students with learning disabilities as well as with high-achieving college students just wanting to get straight A’s. I am a native speaker of Spanish, but I’ve also enjoyed studying and tutoring French and Latin. I also have a lot of experience in editing college papers and helping students put together significant research projects.Tutoring has been a way for me to share my love for learning with others. One of the best rewards of tutoring is watching students grow more confident as they achieve their academic goals. I truly believe every student has the ability to learn and it’s my personal goal to help them discover this. I really enjoy getting to know each student personally, as we are a team in this endeavor. More than just helping students get good grades, I also try to instill effective study habits and skills that will help them succeed in any subject.
Welcome, future students and parents! I am a certified elementary and middle school mathematics teacher with a passion for teaching mathematics. I have seven years of experience working in and out of the classroom with students. I have a very step-by-step approach to teaching mathematics and ensure that students master foundational skills, so they can learn more difficult topics. I come from a large family and am very flexible, kind, and love working with children and youth.
My name is Landon Weist. I have completed the requirements for a Classics major in a Latin concentration. I primarily tutor Latin from entry-level to advanced studies.
I was a second and third grade classroom teacher for five years. I then transitioned to being an online teacher to help students on quarantine stay up to speed with their classmates. I am now a stay at home mom with a desire to continue working with students! I love working with children and have a passion for guiding them in their learning. I find tutoring to be very helpful for students who learn best one on one. I strongly believe that every child learns differently, so tutoring allows that child to learn the way they best do. I find hands on learning to be very beneficial for the younger grades.
I enjoy reading and writing about various subjects, for any end, and am passionate about helping others to enjoy it as well, and feel confident in their ability to do so. From writing and editing a nationally awarded high school paper, to researching, writing, and defending two thesis papers and presentations, to organizing and planning and leading my peers through my Eagle Scout project, I am confident I can help others enjoy writing as a tool, and outlet, as much as I do.
