I am a graduate of The University of Mount Union where I received my Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education. I furthered my education at Franciscan University and received my Master's degree in Education and Reading. Since graduation, I have taught 10+ years as a kindergarten teacher but have recent experience with 3rd grade students! I am passionate about student success in all areas but especially reading. My approach to teaching young minds is to do it in a variety of ways, depending on each student's learning styles and interests! We are all different learners and I love to harvest that for each student. I like to add music, physical activity, movement, and fun to all of my lessons! In addition to having fun while learning, I have clear expectations and manage behavior and time wisely. I absolutely love teaching/tutoring students! In my spare time, I enjoy family time spent with my husband, children, and pets. We spend much of our time outdoors and staying busy.

I recently relocated to Houston with my husband and newborn daughter. Being a Cuban-American from Miami, I love the diversity of Houston and getting to try all the different ethnic foods, but my palate is still adjusting to spicy Mexican food! This past year I graduated with my Masters in History from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh where I was a Graduate Assistant. I attended undergraduate school at Franciscan University of Steubenville, where I graduated with the top GPA in my class. I discovered my particular interest in history as an undergraduate student, however I have a real passion for all of the humanities, such as literature, philosophy, theology, and political science.I have tutored a variety of ages and subjects, ranging from third grade math to college level languages. I have worked with students with learning disabilities as well as with high-achieving college students just wanting to get straight A’s. I am a native speaker of Spanish, but I’ve also enjoyed studying and tutoring French and Latin. My name is Landon Weist. I have completed the requirements for a Classics major in a Latin concentration. I primarily tutor Latin from entry-level to advanced studies.

I was a second and third grade classroom teacher for five years. I then transitioned to being an online teacher to help students on quarantine stay up to speed with their classmates. I am now a stay at home mom with a desire to continue working with students! I love working with children and have a passion for guiding them in their learning. I find tutoring to be very helpful for students who learn best one on one. I strongly believe that every child learns differently, so tutoring allows that child to learn the way they best do. I find hands on learning to be very beneficial for the younger grades.
