I hold my Bachelor of Arts in International Studies after learning about different cultures, religions, and people groups during my time at Cedarville University. I have developed a passion for teaching since graduating, and specialize in tutoring English and Reading. This passion has grown through five years of working with an afterschool program for elementary age students in my community, and continued as I have spent the past two years tutoring English language learners through an online platform. It has been through these experiences that I've grown to believe in the power of embracing students for who they are, as I look for ways to connect students' hobbies and interests with the subject material. My goal in doing this is to make each student feel valued and heard, which I've seen positively impact their attitude toward learning. I am currently a third year law student at Washington University. While in college, I studied Political Science and tutored a range of subjects, including Law, Physical Science and Government. Since then, I have developed an expertise in the LSAT test. I particularly like assisting students with Writing and Logical Reasoning on the LSAT. I have experience tutoring students with a variety of learning styles, challenges and goals. In each case, I set objectives with the student and then track progress, while adapting to individual learning methods. The ultimate goal is to move students from uncertainty, and potentially great frustration, to confidence and understanding. I am a graduate of Cedarville University with a degree in Middle Childhood Education. I completed my graduate degree at Liberty University before moving overseas to work with children who live in the sugarcane fields of the Dominican Republic! I am a graduate of Cedarville University. I received my Bachelor's in Elementary Education with a minor in Bible and a Concentration in American Studies. I earned my Master of Education with a concentration in Curriculum and Instruction and a Reading Endorsement Certificate focused on dyslexia. After spending nearly seven years in the classroom, I left to stay home with my son. However, I continued tutoring all subjects and teaching piano. I am passionate about watching struggling readers grow and become confident in their reading abilities. In addition to reading, I tutor math from kindergarten to Algebra 1. I enjoy learning new ways to make math easier for my students. Currently, I homeschool my four children, ages 6 to 17, and work with our local co-op teaching Pre-algebra. I'm excited to tutor with you! I obtained my BA in Psychology in 2023 from Cedarville University, and am looking to attend graduate school to become a school psychologist. I have always had a passion for the field of education and have some previous long-term tutoring experience, though it took place in my local area and not on Varsity Tutors. My favorite (and strongest) subjects are math and English, and I would love to use this knowledge and passion to help you. Additionally, I've taken multiple standardized tests, such as the ACT and GRE, and have become very familiar with their methods and content, so that I can hopefully be of help with them as well. In my tutoring, I generally try to use as many relevant practice questions and practice content as I can. My goal is to work through the sorts of questions that a student will see in their schoolwork/tests, and not only show them what the answer is but also show them how to find the answers on their own. My goal above all--strange as it sounds--is to help them not need me anymore! If I can help a student to work through subjects and questions independently and adequately understand the relevant topics, then I will consider my goal accomplished.

I am a junior student at Cedarville University pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a focus in Zoology. During high school, I attended a 2-day per week homeschool/college prep program called Providence Extension Program (PEP) where I learned from amazing and caring tutors who were subject matter experts. They modeled for me what an outstanding tutor should look like.I took Chemistry in my senior year of high school and absolutely fell in love with the way that it challenged my brain. Early on in the class, three of my classmates noticed my success in the course and asked for some help with the material. Several times throughout the year, I was able to meet with them during study halls or lunches, or over video call and provide extra help. Rather than spoon-feed the answers to the homework, I desired to train my peers on how to approach the various mathematical and conceptual problems presented in Chemistry. My classmates told me they especially benefitted from my "step-by-step" teaching style and my study strategies. It was such an absolute joy and privilege to be able to share my love of science with my peers, and I love doing it again with classmates in college!I would be delighted to encourage and help students meet their academic goals in scientific subjects related to Chemistry, Biology, or Zoology!Here are three very important things to know about me:1. Hello! I am a licensed math teacher with a Bachelors degrees in Mathematics as well as Mathematics Education. I am currently in my sixth year of teaching middle school and high school math. During my time as a math teacher, I have taught 6th Grade Math, 7th Grade Math, 8th Grade Math, Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, Precalculus, and Probability & Statistics. I have also spent 300+ hours tutoring students, with 150+ of those hours being ACT/SAT Prep.

I am a graduate of Cedarville University, where I received my B.A. in Political Science. While a student, I spent a semester living and working in Washington, D.C. and competed all four years in a debate league. I have been an educator for 16 years. I have taught English, ESL, Creative Writing, have tutored for various standardize tests, and was an LD tutor for a year as well.I am currently a middle school counselor. Although I love being a school counselor, I absolutely LOVE and miss teaching. I teach two summer school sessions each summer and teach Sunday school every other Sunday.What I enjoy most about teaching is being part of the process of helping someone figure out how to complete a task that was previously thought impossible and watch as the student gains confidence and pride of what he/she now can do.

I am currently a student at The Master's University and working towards a bachelor's degree in Creative Writing and Publishing. Previous to college, I completed a year-long internship in a 5th-grade classroom. However, due to the pandemic, I did the internship through zoom, so I gained experience with teaching online as I created lessons, helped the kids with test corrections, homework, and in-class activities. I worked with the students multiple times a week, either in groups or individually. Additionally, after my senior year, I tutored a middle schooler in various subjects, including English, math, history, and science. As I teach students, I seek ways to make learning enjoyable. I am a mechanical engineering PhD student who has plans to be a university professor. I completed my undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering at Cedarville University, and I am completing my PhD at Ohio State University. The focus of my research is solid mechanics and fatigue, and statics and mechanics of materials have always been my favorite engineering topics. I have taught robotics camps (starting in highschool where I developed a curriculum for teaching middleschoolers), violin, and space camp. I have tutored statics and mechanics of materials, MATLAB, Solidworks, physics, algebra, pre-calculus, calculus, physics, and dynamics, and elementary and middle school math. I have had truly wonderful teachers at that really inspired me, and I want to be that to others. I think education is one of the most important things we can do for ourselves, and I would love to help others as they're seeking to accomplish their educational goals.

Although formally trained in the biological sciences and in the art of medicine, I have amassed a strong base to be a successful educator. My prior experiences include over 10 years of teaching, tutoring, and educating over a wide range of both community and academic settings ranging from the collegiate to post-graduate level. I have highlighted some of these experiences in the following paragraph.During my undergraduate years, I worked as a TA in both the "Introduction to Biology" and "Biochemistry" courses, where I was responsible for both private and group tutoring. While earning my doctorate in Medical School, I employed myself as an MCAT tutor, providing educational tutoring as well as test-taking and time-management skills coaching. As a medical intern, one responsibility consisted of simultaneously directing the teaching of medical school students and outpatients coming to the various subspecialty clinics for educational workshops. During my post-graduate residency training, I was responsible for providing intraoperative education and scheduled lectures appropriate to the training level and interests of medical students and visiting residents.

I graduated with a degree in Allied Health from Cedarville University, where I received a strong education in Physiology, Kinesiology, and Science. My undergraduate education prepared me for graduate school at Walsh University, where I am currently pursuing my doctor of Physical Therapy degree. I am a Senior in college at Cedarville University currently studying civil engineering. I have taken up through Calculus 3 along with Physics 1& 2, Statistics, Geometry, Trigonometry, Precalculus, and Algebra. I also received an excellent score on the SAT after many stressful hours of studying. I understand the pressure that comes with the exam and would love to help alleviate some of that. I love tutoring students as I have already done so for many years. I hope to one day travel overseas and help design systems that will transport drinkable water to those in developing countries.

From an early age, I was sure I was going to be a teacher I loved learning and I loved helping others learn. In high school, I participated in job shadowing, the Future Teachers of America club, and other opportunities. Once I started college, however, I realized that the classroom/school setting of K-12 was not where I envisioned my career anymore. I changed my major to psychology. Because I love learning, I took Calculus II as an elective. And despite my change in majors, I still loved to support others in their learning and I found positions to do so. I tutored at the local high school, I provided supplemental instruction for a statistics class, and I was the teaching assistant for a general psychology course. One of my favorite moments in college was when I was reviewing material with a group of students who were struggling to understand Type I and Type II error. I explained how to think about these errors in a different way than their instructor, and they collectively had an "Aha!" moment. I went to graduate school at the University of Utah, where I earned MS and PhD degrees in educational psychology. My program included two graduate statistics courses, and I also elected to take a qualitative analysis course and a hierarchical linear modeling course (which I used for my dissertation). During my time as a graduate student, I taught "Strategies for College Success," which covered study skills and college-level writing. I have taught graduate-level courses in psychology and evaluation. While my positions since graduate school have not focused on teaching, I still enjoyed opportunities to share my knowledge and expertise with colleagues and students. I love to learn just for the sake of learning, while I also recognize that not everyone does. I can work best with students when we both understand what is motivating them (e.g., getting a good grade, receiving praise) and can use that to provide positive reinforcement and focus. I enjoy tutoring math subjects especially, and helping it make sense, but I also have significant experience writing and editing papers and can help students understand the why behind the rules of editing as well. Outside of academia, I love to travel with my sweetheart, where we often spend time learning about history and culture of new places. I also enjoy reading and playing with my cat when I'm at home.

I enjoy teaching! I believe that every student has the right to be taught the way that they can learn. Everyone does not learn the same way. I try to use all the senses when teaching to discover the way a student learns. Once the skill is discovered, the skill is utilized to the fullest extent.
