Are you ready to learn more?I am passionate about teaching and learning. The two go hand-in-hand.I have a BA from Ohio State in Educational Psychology and a Masters in Educational Leadership from Urbana University and I am currently working towards my doctorate in Education. I am a 14 year veteran middle school teacher with a licence in 1st-8th Grade General. I am a former National Board Certified Teacher and have worked with PRAXIS as a scorer and scoring supervisor. I have also worked as a College Adjunct Instructor in Education and English Composition.I tutor elementary students through adult professionals.Currently I am writing a series of books designed to help people pass the various teaching test using my "insider" knowledge of these tests.I am an English language nerd. Especially storytelling and language evolutions.I believe everyone can always learn more and new things.Outside of the classroom I love live theatre, good food, and traveling.

As a passionate educator with a Master's degree in Elementary Education from Urbana University, I have dedicated over 5 years to tutoring and teaching in the classroom. My specialties include elementary school math, reading, writing, and phonics, and I thrive on helping students discover their potential in these subjects. I graduated from Urbana University in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science. I majored in middle school math and science education. I also studied young adult reading. My teaching certificate is for grades 4-9 math and science education with a K-12 reading endorsement. Because I struggled in middle school math, I had to teach myself tricks to solving math problems. My 9th grade math teacher changed my attitude toward She taught me that I can 'do math'. I strive to instill this confidence regarding math to all my struggling students, alleviating their anxiety and encouraging them to try to solve the math concepts we are studying. My philosophy is that with a little patience all students can be successful and learn to enjoy math. My teaching methods and love of subject make learning math fun and gives all my students the confidence needed to overcome their math struggles. When I introduce a new math concept in math, I first introduce the concept and give examples while students take notes in their math journal. Next, we practice as a class, then in small groups and finally students work independently solving the problems. I have found this method to be very successful. I was always available for tutoring and extra help for struggling students. I have taught many levels of math, but Algebra is my favorite subject to teach/tutor because it is more like solving puzzles than solving math equations. I have tutored many students, and I pride myself in giving students the knowledge and confidence to be successful in their future math classes. Outside of tutoring, I enjoy making jewelry, giving jewelry lessons and hosting beading parties. I also enjoy hanging out with my two adult sons.
