Hello there. My name is Taylor Smith! I am a writer and MFA candidate at Chatham University in Pittsburgh, PA. I have been tutoring professionally for 6 years now and am working on a collection of poetry that I hope to have published within the next year. I am very patient, I have a strong passion for the English language (languages in general, I might add: I spent one year in Italy, and I taught English in China for two months), and I have experience working with ages 7 and up (I've worked with professional writers, published authors, teachers, college students, graduate students, and elementary school and middle school students). Some of my favorite writers include Cormac McCarthy, Jack Kerouac, Nin Andrews, Sharon Olds, and T. C. Boyle. I personally prefer to meet in person; however, I understand if some people might feel more comfortable, or if it might be more convenient to work online. I will say, though, that my purpose as a writing advisor is, as the great Stephen North said, to make better writers, and not just better writing. I am interested in helping each individual writer learn the craft of writing so that they can become self-sufficient in their own way. I am not a copy-editor, nor am I a quick-fix advisor. I take great pride in that statement.As for the fun stuff, I'm an active writer, an active reader, a musician (I play guitar, and played in a band for a number of years), a movie-watcher, a swimmer, a traveler (Mozambique, Costa Rica, England, Ireland, France, Germany, China, Canada, Italy, and Spain), and a tea-drinker. I love studying theoretical physics, philosophy, religion, and science (space exploration and astronomy). My specialized skill set includes evaluating collegiate admission essays to ensure they are comprehensive and individualized. Additionally, I serve as an assessor of academic progress for school at home/ homeschool students. Helping students excel with essay development, composition and review are also areas I have exemplary capability in. I will also work alongside student teachers in evaluating personalized educational belief statements.I believe all students have the capacity to learn. Learning styles and abilities do vary . Students should never feel shame or judgement about their academic aptitude. An exemplary tutor possesses the understanding that all learners need to progress at their own individual pace. We accomplish goals much quicker when lessons can be personalized and interruptions are non existent.My career spans from the collegiate level as a certified Reading Specialist to experience as an elementary teacher for grades K- 8 . Additionally, I specialize in the unique learning styles of the homeschool community and have been a homeschool educator for several years.

I was a University paid peer tutor for college level students. I tutored Math and Physics with difficulties ranging from basic math to 2nd year calculus.I think the reason my students consistently favor my approach to math and especially physics is my use of practical and physical analogies that make the material easier to relate to, and thus, understand. I like to break the material into bits and cast it in terms of familiar experiences and existing knowledge. From here, it becomes easier for students to build up an understanding of the present subject and to use those problem solving skills in the future.

I'm a young vibrant senior graduating from university this May. I tutor students on a regular basis and really enjoy it. My passion is music and working with the future of our world, children! Educating others while educating yourself is my motto. I learn as I help others learn. So, let's get to it!

Every student is important. Every student can excel at any subject. Every student deserves someone who will help him/her reach their fullest potential. Complex subjects like math or language arts is a skill that can be strengthened with practice and engaging materials that are fun and apply to a child's individual needs and interests. It is my goal to help students reach their definitions of success while (hopefully!) having fun along the way.

As an adjunct professor of finance, I enjoy helping individuals find their way within the finance and business worlds. As a swimming coach, I enjoy helping individuals reach their goals. I am patient and kind and have been in your shoes. I am a strong tutor with the Series 65, 66, and 7.

I believe all students can learn and all students have intellectual gifts. It is my honor to be able to help people employ their gifts in various academic (and life) areas and also to help them develop/use skills and talents in other areas that they may not realize they have.

I am an experienced educator with 29 years in the teaching profession. I can diagram sentences, analyze Shakespeare, Woolf, Dickinson, and Thoreau. I can evaluate literary essays, research projects, and college admissions essays. I can lead/encourage a student to become a better writer, reader, thinker, and public speaker. These "talents" are not the most important components of me as an educator, though. I am a lifelong learner. I genuinely and earnestly become excited and animated about the learning process. I enjoy sharing my own passion and thirst for learning and knowledge with my students. I both encourage and challenge them to also become lifelong learners. It's a beautiful cycle to which we, as educators, are fortunate to contribute.

I am currently a senior Biochemistry and Molecular Biology and Philosophy major at Wittenberg University. I enjoy the exchange of learning and that's why I decided to become a tutor. I have been a tutor since high school and I continued during college. I have taught high school level math, biology, chemistry and physics and college level chemistry. I connect with my students and help them to gain a better understanding of the subject matter. I cannot wait to get to know and work with you!

I am a graduate of Wittenberg University and University of Cincinnati, where I received my Bachelors of Music Education and Masters of Education in Curriculum and Instruction respectively. I am extremely passionate about working with youth and sharing my joy of learning with others. Currently, I am finishing my third year of teaching in Cleveland, Ohio. Much of my classroom experience has been teaching music to students in grades Pre-K through 12. However, for about half of my career, I have worked with students in after-school programs and summer programs which help youth in under-resourced areas improve their skills in math, literacy, and social-emotional development. While I am most passionate about music, I enjoy other subjects as well and am interested in providing tutoring opportunities for students in math, ELA, and other subjects as well. Overall, my goal in life is to inspire the generations below me and foster an appreciation for learning as much as humanly possible.

I have a BA in Math from Wittenberg University and a Masters in Applied Statistics from the University of Alabama. I have been tutoring part-time for 8 years in Austin, TX and now here in Denver. I tutor the following subjects: algebra, discrete/finite math, geometry, and statistics (business, psych).My approach is to tutoring is about one thing: relatability. I really try to understand the student's issues and identify with them. This puts the student in a comfortable place, where no question feels like a dumb question. Once you get there, you can make real progress.Personal interests: sports of all sorts (i'm a huge Colts, Pacers, Dodgers, and Crimson Tide fan), gaming, snowboarding, reading crime fiction, watching pretty much everything on Comedy Central.

I know learning can be lonely and exhausting. As a musician, I sat on the piano bench making mistakes for countless hours before I could make beautiful music. As a lawyer, I spent days by myself looking for helpful cases in the library before I presented my arguments. I hope my tutoring can make learning easier and less lonely. I share tips to help students learn more quickly and effectively. I also give support when concepts are difficult to master. My teaching style is non-judgmental and encouraging, and I love helping students discover their potential.
