As someone who has previously struggled in his studies, I can appreciate the difficulty you are facing and the stress you are feeling. I want to help you overcome that hurdle, because if you care, nothing can stop you!

As an experienced educator and passionate historian, I am excited about the opportunity to contribute my skills and knowledge to a tutoring role. With a deep understanding of history as the leading historian for the 38th Ohio Civil War Regiment, I bring a unique perspective to my teaching. My work in historical research and presentation allows me to connect with students in a way that fosters both academic growth and a genuine appreciation for history. As a teacher and parent, I understand the importance of supporting students in their educational journey. I am committed to creating a learning environment that is both challenging and encouraging, helping students not only meet but exceed their academic goals. I strive to understand each student's individual needs, tailoring my approach to ensure they feel supported, motivated, and confident in their learning process. My goal is to provide the kind of personalized guidance that empowers students to succeed, both academically and personally. I am dedicated to helping students build the skills they need to excel, with a focus on fostering curiosity, critical thinking, and a lifelong love of learning.
I graduated from Kent State University in 1993 with a B.A in French and English. I then went back to school to complete my B.S in secondary education. I completed my student teaching in spring of 1996 and had a full time teaching job by the following spring of 1997. I really enjoyed subbing, meeting new students every day, learning about different subject matters, but I couldn't wait for a classroom of my own. I began teaching in 1997 and my course load included beginning levels of French as well as all levels of high school Language Arts. I was even able to teach creative writing which has always been a passion of mine. I love literature and the shared experience reading along with students as they create their own meanings from what we have read. My favorites include, but are not limited to: To Kill a Mockingbird, Catcher in the Rye, Macbeth, Hamlet, Huckleberry Finn, Brave New World, Night and Frankenstein. Writing has always been a natural process for me: the planning and brainstorming, the organizing and outlining, creating my first draft, the editing process and of course the final product. During my teaching career, I served as the lead for the Language Arts department and was able to work collaboratively with other teachers, always trying new ideas, sharing and helping to support our students. I was also recognized by my students at a top 10% banquet. It was not long before I returned to Kent to complete my Masters degree in educational leadership and then my principal as well as superintendents license. This level of study in graduate school provided its own challenges, but I embraced them all. I love to be in the classroom in whatever capacity, whether I am a student, a teacher or even as an administrator. The learning process is something that I have studied and will continue to study. Helping students become successful in school, at the university level and as an adult in society is an unbelievable feeling. It's one that I hope to continue here. As a student, I was on the Deans list several times and recruited to be a part of Phi Delta Kappa. As an educator, I taught for 7 years, became an assistant principal for 4 years and then was recruited to be the head principal, first female, for a high school. I held that position for 5 years then transitioned to curriculum work, another passion of mine. As principal, I helped raise student test scores as well as our performance index each school year. I was the curriculum leader for my building and embraced it. I was named educator of the year for the high school as well as district in May of 2013. I am excited now to begin this new opportunity to work with students one on one and help them become successful - at whatever they want to do. I look forward to meeting you and working with you.
"You cannot get through a single day without having an impact on the world around you. What you do makes a difference. You just have to decide what kind of difference you want to make." - Jane GoodallI want to make a positive, world changing difference! I believe teachers are given the opportunity to build on foundations laid by parents for a prosperous future, not only for individual children, but for our society as a whole. Although this is a huge responsibility for the adults, I believe that through the education of children, we are able to deliver children the opportunity to find a future which they enjoy. I believe in the reward of seeing children flourish and it is worth the effort and dedication required. I am a strong advocate for partnership with the parents/guardians of students I work with. While classroom/large group and small group settings are both important, I find particular value in the opportunity to meet 1:1 with students. Meeting a student where they are and helping them grow is very life-giving and rewarding to me!I have both my bachelor's and master's degrees in the field of education. I have over 10 years of classroom experience in the "brick and mortar" school. Since 2020, I have been teaching and tutoring on-line. I have my degrees in and have worked with students in K-12th grades, both regular education and special education, across a plethora of content areas.Let's connect! I'd love to meet you!
I am a graduate of Kent State University with a BA in English and a minor in writing. I've also studied at the University of Pennsylvania. I've always been passionate about teaching since I was a child. "Playing School" was my favorite game to play growing up. So, I became a teacher, but I'm also an editor. My experience teaching has been an adventure because I don't just teach; I learn with my students. My favorite subject to tutor is English, writing, and reading because I've always been a "word nerd," and teaching these subjects leads to other subjects like history, current events, and culture that can add richly to lessons. Outside of teaching, I spend a lot of time reading. I enjoy traveling, too, because there is so much world to see and learn about.
In May 2018, I will graduate Summa Cum Laude from Kent State University with a Bachelor's degree in the Science of Education, allowing me to teach mathematics grades 7 to 12. I am also a member of Kent State's Honors College and Phi Beta Kappa, the oldest and most prestigious honor society of liberal arts and science. Since a young age, I knew that I wanted to help other people, but I wasn't sure how. I found teaching to be the best route for me after helping many of my peers in their study. My interest include hanging out with my friends and family, playing video games, and keeping up on current events.

I'm Kathleen, a veteran high school teacher and academic tutor. As an undergraduate, I attended Kent State University and majored in English with a minor called The Writing Certificate Program. After graduating, I earned an assistantship to the University of Toledo where I was able to teach Composition 1 and 2. I then transferred into the education department to earn my Masters in Secondary Education with a concentration in English. After graduate school, I began teaching middle school English and then moved on to high school English, where I have been teaching for twenty-three years. In 2012, I returned to graduate school to earn the Tesol license endorsement to facilitate educational services for English Learners. I also tutor students who are newer to the English language needing basic interpersonal communication or who need to advance beyond achieving an intermediate proficiency level. I have also worked as a professional learning coach for a private organization and specialized in the administration of the CAT test. My favorite part about working one to one with students is being able to focus entirely on assisting that one person to make progress. As a tutor, I have been able to help many students go from struggling in the subject matter to excelling at school beyond the target subject. As a veteran teacher who has taught at both the high school and college levels, I have a close familiarity with the skills and knowledge vital to succeed on the verbal sides of standardized testing such as ACT, SAT, state testing, and more . I would love to work with you or your child to assist with short or long term goals you may have related to language arts. I work hard to respond to inquiries within 24 hours. Please reach out to schedule a session soon!

I am currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering at Kent State University. Throughout middle and high school, my access to tutors and other assistance services was limited. This in turn inhibited my learning and caused me to struggle in aspects of school that never really clicked. So I want to give others what I never got, and hopefully make learning easier to achieve. My subject of choice is math, but specifically, I tutor Middle School Math, Pre-Algebra, Geometry, Algebra, and Trigonometry.
I was lucky. My mother was an educator, and I received an excellent public school education through high school. When I entered college, I had earned enough credits (English, Biology, Calculus) to be a sophomore, technically. I used the openings that created to explore some unusual subjects: golf, martial arts, and living in Mexico for a semester. When I continued on to my MS, I had a graduate fellowship with the Political Science department. That gave me my first opportunity to teach, freshman American Government.I am curious by nature. I see learning as an adventure. You never know where it might take you.
I have always loved math and science. That's why I went to college for physics. After graduating from the Rochester Institute of Technology, I went on to get my Masters and PhD from Kent State University. My dream was to become a research scientist and make the kind of interesting discoveries that I heard about when I was a kid. However, I discovered that I enjoy teaching much more than doing research so I became a high school teacher. In addition to teaching high school math and physics, I have taught math at a community college and physics at a university. I spent several years working as a tutor while I was in college and a teaching assistant in grad school. I have also done private tutoring for high school and college students. I am comfortable with any level of math or physics. I always try to make my lessons relatable to my students by using real-world examples like riding in a car. After teaching high school for six years, I decided to go back to school for medical physics so that I could use my love for physics to help people suffering from cancer. I now work at a radiation oncology clinic but I did not lose my passion for teaching.
Assisting students in achieving their academic goals.
I am a bilingual (English and French) biostatistics student at Kent State University. I can tutor French and undergraduate-level statistics. I have tutored on-and-off for about six years and maintain the philosophy that I am always learning with students; we are never true masters of subjects, only on varying levels of learning.
I graduated summa cum laude from Kent State University in 2011, with a Bachelor's degree in Teaching English as a Second Language. I was a peer tutor for 1.5 years at the Kent State Writing Center, where I assisted a wide array of students from freshman level to PhD candidates. After college, I taught ESL to adults in Grand Rapids, Michigan and Cleveland, OH. I have experience working with adult students from many different cultures and educational backgrounds. I have also spent time learning a second language, and I understand how difficult the experience can be. I minored in German language at Kent State University and in 2014, I completed a two-month language course at the Goethe Institute in Germany. I continued to work in arts and education as a Director's assistant at a children's theater camp, and then as the Enrollment Manager at a music-centered preschool. In addition to my experience in education, I also worked for over five years in the business sector as a customer service and global mobility professional. In my role, I provided services to employees moving to a new country for their job. Those services included arranging intercultural training, and coordinating help for employees in finding a home, enrolling their children in school and applying for their driver's license. In 2019, I earned the industry certification of Global Mobility Specialist (GMS). I have learned first-hand the language and writing needs of business professionals. I am passionate about helping students improve themselves, achieve their goals and gain a sense of personal accomplishment through education. I feel privileged to help students improve their writing, reading and language skills, and learn more about the world around them. My teaching approach is kind, patient and respectful. In my spare time, I love to read, write and play piano.

Hi I'm Ms. Godale and I'm a Science and History teacher. I love making teaching fun while also making it educational. I promise you we will have a fun time learning and growing together.
"Every student can learn, just not in the same way or in the same day" George Evans. Soon to be a graduate of Kent State University with an English degree and Writing minor. Like any English major, I love to read and write short stories. I enjoy helping students by making a personal connection with the world to their education. I had an opportunity to studied abroad in Ireland and traveled to England, and Scotland. I visited the book of Kells, watched a Shakespeare play, and learned the origins of Dr. Jekylle and Mr. Hyde.
Learning a new language is like solving a jigsaw puzzle. At first, you only have a few pieces, a few words. But as you start to learning, you gather more information and you start to get a better idea of what is happening in front of you. And soon, you'll feel accomplished as you are traveling the world, understanding the proud beauty in different cultures and philosophies. You'll be able to understand and communicate your ideas freely and it all starts here. Trust me. I have one it! And you can too! When I was in high school, I didn't have a passion for learning. I slacked off in class and casually cruised to graduation. I figured that I wouldn't go to college because I wasn't smart enough. All I wanted to do was travel the world. The summer following graduation, I worked construction framing houses and got enough money to buy a ticket to Australia. And in a few months, I was off to see the world. When I arrived at the hostel in Melbourne, I quickly realized that I was under-prepared for the real world. I was only 18 and staying with older travelers who all had bright-intelligent ideas. Many of them could speak more than one language and, suddenly, I found myself overwhelmed. The first night in that hostel, I made a decision that I would never take education for granted again and that I would learn another language.Shortly after coming home from Australia, I was asked to manage a coffee shop in Playa del Coco, Costa Rica. I jumped at the opportunity. I flew to Costa Rica and eagerly dedicated myself to my goal. I would wake up every morning, ride a bike with no brakes to the coffee shop (hoping I didn't have to abruptly stop along the way), opened my books and started reading. I started by reading children's bible books written in Spanish. It gave me a basic understanding of the grammatical structure and vocabulary. After 4 months, I was proficient but decided I needed something more. So, I decided to study at Kent State University. At Kent, I participated in a foreign exchange program, worked at a Mexican restaurant, participated in Spanish Club, and represented in Modern and Classical Languages in student council. All of which, helped to further advance my ability to speak Spanish. After graduation, I took a job working as an Application Engineer for Latin America (which was a fancy term for technical support). Later, I went on to work as a Sales Engineer for Latin America, serving 41 accounts throughout Latin America. Since, I have been traveling frequently to Mexico and working as an bi-lingual actor in Cleveland, Columbus, Pittsburgh, Atlanta, Kentucky and Indiana.Long story short, I love speaking Spanish. I think it's a great way to communicate with the world and a great reason to travel! I am excited to share my experience and help you achieve your goal of becoming fluent!

I'm a graduate of Marshall University and Missouri University of Science and Technology where I earned Bachelor's degrees in Engineering Geology and Geological Engineering, as well as a Master's Degree in Geological Engineering. I'm currently in my third year of my Ph.D. in Applied Geology at Kent State University. I enjoy traveling and seeing new places especially when it has some exciting geology. It's been said the best geologist is the one who has seen the most rocks...and that's my life goal: to see the most rocks! I have been both a teaching assistant as well as a professor for introductory geology laboratory courses and upper level college geology courses. While geology is my career and my greatest passion, I also enjoy other subjects such as mathematics, geospatial information systems, World War II history, and geotechnical engineering.
As a teacher with over 17 years experience it is important for me to know what "works" for my students. Sometimes I know right away while other times it takes a considerable amount of work. It is my belief that when a student sees that you care about their success they will go that extra mile and accomplish things they never though possible. I enjoy helping students achieve there goals. In the state of Virginia I am certified in middle grades English and math along with my certification as a K-12 special education teacher. I hold a bachelors degree in marketing, masters in special education and a specialist degree in high education administration. I have taught many places including Texas, Washington state, Tennessee and Florida. Teaching is my life.
I graduated from Kent State University with a Bachelors of Science in Education. I specialize in all science subjects grades 7-12. I have several years of experience as a teacher as well as 4 years working as a camp counselor. My goal is to increase my content knowledge in the areas of science so that I can continually improve as a science teacher. I especially like the physical sciences like chemistry and physics.
I received my Bachelor's degree in education from Kent State University and am licensed to teach 7-12 English/Language Arts. I am able to teach literature, reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary, study skills and organizational skills. I have two years of experience in the classroom, including my student teaching. I have taught 9th grade Honors English, 10th grade English (with a mix of honors and college prep students) and 11th grade English. I have taught a wide variety of literature (from Shakespeare to young adult novels to nonfiction to poetry) and focused heavily on writing and grammar during my teaching experiences. I believe that all students learn differently, and I get to know students first to see what his/her learning style is, interests, hobbies, favorite class, etc. This helps me shape assignments and lessons. I try to give students choices in projects or assignments to meet their needs and interests. For example: if I know a student likes sports, I may give him/her an essay to write about regarding sports--maybe a prompt such as: Should all students be required to participate in at least one sport while in school? Defend your position. If a student is more of a visual, creative learner, I may have him/her create a comic strip based off of what we just read in Macbeth. I also differentiate my instruction based on student's level of understanding. Rather than starting off with hard questions that may frustrate a student, I give basic, comprehension questions until the student is more familiar with the material. I work one-on-one with students, in small groups or as a whole class. I am always available to students for extra help when needed, because my goal as an educator is to help students succeed in school.Outside of school, I like to read and write, cook, go shopping, go to the movies, explore Cleveland more (lived here my whole life and never seen everything Cleveland has to offer), go to Indians and Monsters games, and hang out with friends.I am hard working, punctual, patient, and flexible with my schedule.

In my presence you will feel valued, comfortable, and safe. As a former teacher and current administrator, I possess extensive knowledge relative to effective teaching and learning strategies. I have attained this knowledge from several perspectives, the most important perspective being formed from what students have shared with me over the years in terms of what elements need to be in place for them advance academically.I hold a B.S. in Secondary Spanish Education and a Master's Degree in Educational Administration. I also hold Building Principal (PreK-12) and Superintendent certification. I have taught (high school Spanish) for the Akron Public Schools and the Columbus City Schools. I believe that in the proper setting, with the proper tools, and with the necessary supports and guidance, every learner is capable of achieving personal academic success. As a tutor I will guide you through the material at hand in a manner that suits your needs and comfort level. With my guidance you will realize that you are more than capable of advancing academically. The areas in which I'm qualified to tutor include: Spanish, levels 1-3, all elementary core content areas, all middle school core content areas, high school OGT prep, all areas, and high school ELA or social studies.I am not experienced enough to assist with any type of math beyond the 9th grade, although, I am familiar with OGT math prep material. I am also not very experienced in science beyond the 9th grade.

Hello! Bonjour! I am glad you have decided to start/build on/continue your language studies! My native language is Russian, but my forever love is French: I have been teaching it for 17 years. I have taught all levels of college/university language classes, from beginning to advanced, literature, film, civilization, and theater. I have also taught ESL: 4 years at a refugee resettlement agency. I studied European Literature in Cambridge (earned my M.Phil. in that subject, with specialization in French and Russian literary traditions). I lived in Paris for two years, have translated prose and poetry from French into English, and wrote my Ph. D. dissertation in French. I started learning the language because I wanted to sing like Edith Piaf. I still sing, although not like Edith Piaf and preferably away from anybody's ears, and French and Francophone cultures have been a joy and a marvel in my life.
I graduated from Notre Dame College in August 2015 with a Master???s Degree in Education (M.Ed.). I am currently studying to pass the state licensure exam to be certified as a Mild/Moderate Intervention Specialist k-12. My experience includes private, group, and individualized tutoring. My preference is one on one tutoring because tutoring and mentoring go hand in hand. The goal is to make the subject material fun and, if possible, make it a game. This will build self- esteem and boost self-confidence. One must find and teach to the student???s learning style and find different way to differentiate the subject (s) being taught. Always wrap up on a positive note and make sure you challenged the student for the next level.I was diagnosed with a learning disability in elementary school. English Language Arts was the biggest area of struggle for me, with some minor difficulty in math. I have learned to coexist with and overcome my disability. Because of my own struggles with learning, I know I can help students overcome their own academic downfalls.
I am a 6th year teacher who loves to help! Math and reading are two of my favorites but sometimes math can be superior (lol)! Let's learn some things together.
I'm a Ph.D. graduate in Cell Biology from Kent State University, where I did my doctoral research on bowhead and beluga whales! Before that, I earned my bachelor's and master's degrees in Anthropology from Penn State. I tutor in anatomy, physiology, biology, and general science courses.

The tutor will assess your current understanding of the material, discuss what's challenging you in your Kent State courses, and create a personalized plan to help you succeed. This foundation ensures that all future sessions are focused and tailored to your needs.
