I am a current college professor teaching a wide variety of courses in health, anatomy and physiology, and exercise science. I have recently gone on to continue my education and just completed my doctoral degree in kinesiology. I teach college students primarily but do have experience teaching middle school age students through an anatomy camp each summer. I also have 3 children in elementary school in which I am probably overly involved in their learning.

I am now a substitute teacher, looking to become a certified teacher very soon. I also enjoy meeting new people, as well as helping others solve their problems. I am outgoing and willing to do whatever I can to help you succeed.

I am a graduate of Xavier University in Cincinnati. I hold degrees in Natural Science and Spanish. I grew up in Tulsa, OK but moved to Cincinnati, OH after graduating from high school. I am currently back in Cincinnati, OH where I earned my MSN at Xavier University and I earned my PhD in Nursing Research at the University of Cincinnati.

I am able to get to know a student and teach them in a way that suits their learning style and allows them to reach their full potential. I look forward to working with you!

I'm constantly observing how the student's whole body integrates information; these observations inform me, as the tutor, about what is working and what we methods we need to try. For example, if one tool for visual attention to text isn't working, we talk about what's off and try tools until one is just right. I tend to use models of problem solving that involve ongoing updates about what's right, what's off, and what's just right; we can work strategically to maximize outcomes.

I am most comfortable tutoring include Elementary Reading (comprehension, fluency, decoding, phonics, etc.) and Elementary Math, as I have the most experience teaching and tutoring students in these areas and grade levels (K-6). I have taught in public elementary, middle, and high schools at all grade levels K-12. I have taught in both brick-and-mortar and online settings.

I am currently preparing to begin a Master's of Teaching program at VCU this fall and have continued to excel in the math and history courses I need to round out my teaching endorsements. Because my future career path focuses on teaching at the high school level, I have a preference for tutoring math (especially algebra through calculus) and history, along with writing and my current subject of philosophy. I am passionate about helping students because I love to learn and share in ideas. "Teaching" others and gaining their perspective is like "relearning" something and enjoying that "ah ha" moment all over again. I have worked with students of all ages and abilities, sponsored foreign exchange students, and collaborated with other artists and volunteers through community arts organizations.
