I graduated from Notre Dame College in August 2015 with a Master???s Degree in Education (M.Ed.). I am currently studying to pass the state licensure exam to be certified as a Mild/Moderate Intervention Specialist k-12. My experience includes private, group, and individualized tutoring. My preference is one on one tutoring because tutoring and mentoring go hand in hand. The goal is to make the subject material fun and, if possible, make it a game. This will build self- esteem and boost self-confidence. One must find and teach to the student???s learning style and find different way to differentiate the subject (s) being taught. Always wrap up on a positive note and make sure you challenged the student for the next level.I was diagnosed with a learning disability in elementary school. English Language Arts was the biggest area of struggle for me, with some minor difficulty in math. I have learned to coexist with and overcome my disability. Because of my own struggles with learning, I know I can help students overcome their own academic downfalls.

I am Joni. I have taught and/or tutored math for about 30 years. I feel for all those who have such a hard time in math. Hopefully by working together we can make that hard time a little easier. I have a good reputation for being able to meet those folks who have such a hard time on their level. And pretty soon there is the aha moment and they say: I've got it. I have been tutoring for nine years. I have tutored all ages in different subjects including students for the 3rd grade a private tutoring program. I am currently teaching high school with a certification in Special Education. I enjoy tutoring because it allows me to be creative with my lessons. I also enjoy working one on one with the students to see what makes them click. My students have the ability to express themselves in different ways than they do in the classroom. As for my attributes, I am patient, flexible and determined to teach students the lessons they need to learn. I look forward to working with families now and in the future.

I am a Biology BS and Biomedical Engineering BS candidate at Notre Dame College. Outside of school I am a resident assistant, a varsity soccer player, and member of the biology, chemistry, and philosophy clubs. Additionally I volunteer through a local nonprofit at various nursing homes, as well as coach 8-12 year olds at my previous soccer club, Cleveland United. My hobbies include playing soccer and playing the guitar. I am happy to help with Mathematics and Science related subjects!

I started my educational journey after high school at the Ohio State University in engineering. I finished with a Bachelor or administrations from Indiana Wesleyan, then a Master of Education in Special Education with a reading endorsement from Notre Dame College. I believe in life long learning. I believe every person learns differently and the education system should help each student determine their best way of learning.
