I am a Professor of Biology at the College of Coastal Georgia. I have a Bachelors Degree in Biological Sciences, a Masters Degree in Biology, and a Ph.D. in Microbiology. I am passionate about student success and want to use this opportunity as a tutor to help students in the areas of biology and microbiology. I use examples that are relatable to real life as often as I can and hope to show even the most disinterested student that science can be fun! My previous students have said that my excitement about the subjects I teach is infectious and helps them engage with the material. I also encourage students to ask questions, even when they might think they are silly. It gives us an opportunity to discuss and sometimes dive into the subject a little deeper. I have experience working with students ranging from elementary school all the way through high school and beyond. I participate in many different outreach opportunities with the local middle schools and the 4-H chapter. In my spare time, I love to spend time with my family, read the occasional novel, or work on my many craft projects.

I am a results-oriented teacher with the goal of seeing students grow and gain success in the subjects that they study.With kindness, patience, and understanding, I seek to help students think through the process of learning. With a background in Music Education, I especially enjoy teaching private lessons on piano, trumpet, and French Horn. Presently, I am a member of a local civic band. My forte of excellence lies in helping remedial elementary students get caught up to their expected grade level.

I am a rising junior at Miami University majoring in Biology with a minor in Business, and I am pursuing a career in Dentistry. I graduated from New Albany High School in Ohio in 2023 and have since been actively involved in academics, leadership, and service. For over a year, I have been tutoring students in Biology, General Chemistry, and Math up to Precalculus. I work with a wide range of learnersfrom fellow college students to young childrenincluding my seven-year-old sister. This experience has strengthened my communication skills and deepened my passion for helping others understand complex concepts. Biology, in particular, fascinates me because it's a dynamic, ever-evolving field that directly impacts our daily lives. Outside of academics, I enjoy golf, running, and spending time outdoors. I also serve on the executive board of my fraternity, where I've developed leadership and teamwork skills that I carry into all areas of my life. I am excited to continue building on these experiences as I prepare for dental school and a career focused on both science and service.

I believe in the power of reading. When a person can read, they can learn anything. So I am passionate about teaching children to read. I try to make the learning process interesting and enjoyable. I use stories as soon as possible, because stories teach in a meaningful way and make the process enjoyable, interesting and memorable. I do my best to cultivate a love of learning in my students.

I am a graduate of St. Ignatius College Prep High School and Xavier University. While attending Xavier I received my BS in Environmental Science and also minored in Economics. I am currently pursuing my MA in Biology from Miami University's Project Dragonfly program. With this program I am focused on the pedagogy of conservation and environmental science. I have spent the last seven years educating students k-12, collegiate level, and adult learners. My favorite topics to help students with are ecology and environmental science! However, I have a diverse background and am confident I can help with everything from reading and writing to economics and statistics! I like to focus on ways to break down complex topics into more manageable pieces. I know that a topic may need to be explained five different ways before it is palatable and I am prepared to reword and rephrase with examples to help you get there!
