During our last session, we covered evolution and its different theories. We also looked at different types or speciations. The student mentioned that on her last test, she got an 85. That was the highest grade she had ever gotten on an exam. She is now in preparation mode for final exams.

The student wanted to learn more about hypothesis testing so we discussed, null and alternative hypotheses, significance levels, and the logic of rejecting the null. We then covered material which is scheduled to be taught in class tomorrow: bivariate correlation, scatter plots, and regression lines. By the end of the lesson, the student seemed to feel more confident in the material.

Tutoring review by Julia in Bellville, TX
When I showed up, the student was in the middle of doing a timed quiz online for her science class. We finished it up together, then moved on to math. We read through the chapter, and then started on the homework. She had a little bit of difficulty with the concept at first, but started to catch on after a few problems. I left her finishing up the last problem of her homework, which I'm sure she got correct since all of the previous ones were. We'll meet once (or twice if schedules permit) during next week, so that we can prep for her next math test.

We went over various problems from a packet of problems given to the student by his teacher. The problems covered various topics including rates of change, concavity, chain rule, limits at infinity, continuity, L'Hopital's rule, and the fundamental theorem of calculus. The student was very confident in his approach to the subject and shows much improvement!

Tutoring review by Nicole in Bellville, TX
For this session, the student worked on reading a memoir and answering comprehension and vocabulary questions from the story. He also worked on various math skills including fractions, ratios, graphs, geometry, and exponents. He reported that he improved his multiplication timed test to 2:29 sec (1 sec improvement). I have challenged him to try to get it down to 2:25 sec. He should be practicing for 15 min per day. We also revised his 3 paragraphs about his grandma. He did a very nice job with this and we didn't need to do very many revisions! We will add a conclusion paragraph when we meet together on Thursday.

Tutoring review by Jesse in Bellville, TX
This session went a lot better than the first. We were able to find a foothold in the material. He has a very hard time with quantitative comparisons, but does okay with the other formats. This is something we can improve upon.
