If you are currently working as a pathologist or laboratory professional and are seeking help reviewing for your ASCP examination, Varsity Tutors can help you enroll in a Las Vegas ASCP certification course. There is a strong demand for experienced medical technicians and specialists. Getting a certification can help open up new career opportunities. It demonstrates to potential employers that you have the knowledge and skills to work safely and perform essential tasks in a medical laboratory. The examination itself is likely to be different than any you have taken before. Enrolling in a test prep course can help you feel more prepared on the actual day of the test.
The American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) is the world's largest professional organization for pathologists and laboratory professionals. There are over 20 different certification options offered through the ASCP Board of Certification (BOC). Prerequisites vary, but most ASCP certifications require a bachelor's degree at a minimum and at least six months of experience in a medical laboratory. The actual duration of the test and how many questions will be on it also varies depending on the certification. For example, if you're taking the ASCP Phlebotomy Technician (PBT) test, then you'll have two hours to answer 80 questions. If you're taking the Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) test, you'll have two and a half hours to complete 100 questions. Regardless of which certification you're aiming for, each test is delivered in a Computer Adaptive Testing (CAT) format. That means the difficulty level of the test will adjust depending on the previous answer you give. If you get an answer wrong, the next question will be easier. If you get an answer correct, the next question will be more difficult.
You have undoubtedly learned a lot of skills through your time at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas or the College of Southern Nevada, and have even gained valuable working experience. However, you will likely be tested on many aspects in your field that you may not necessarily use on a daily basis. Whether you're taking the ASCP Histotechnician (HT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) test, the instructor for your Las Vegas ASCP certification class can provide a comprehensive review of topics you'll be expected to have a solid understanding of for the test. You'll also be attending sessions with other candidates with the same goals of earning ASCP certification as you. As your instructor delivers in-depth lectures, you can ask questions about any topics that might be unclear. Your other classmates can also provide their own unique insights and deepen your understanding of concepts like immunology and microbiology for the ASCP MLS test. Las Vegas ASCP certification training provides a collaborative learning environment that is conducive to reinforcing and reviewing material. If you need additional help, you can also request one-on-one sessions with your instructor outside of class.
Whether you're seeking ASCP certification to advance your skills in your current role or to pursue new career opportunities, we understand that you likely already have a busy schedule. With that said, you'll be glad to know that all sessions are conducted entirely online. All you need is a computer and an internet connection to log into the virtual classroom. There's no need to spend time commuting to a classroom. You can choose between either two- or four-week courses. New sessions start each month on different days and times so you can enroll in a class section that matches your availability. Get in touch with Varsity Tutors today to enroll in a Las Vegas ASCP certification training class and you can start advancing your skills soon.
