Hey my name is Allen, and I'm passionate about helping students turn their weaknesses into strengths. I know how challenging it can feel when a concept doesn't make sense at first, and I enjoy finding ways to make it finally click. My Tutoring Philosophy: Every student learns differently, so I adapt my approach to fit each person. I start by identifying what each student already understands and what feels confusing, then build a plan around their natural learning style. Some students learn best by visualizing problems, while others improve through repetition or verbal explanation. For example, if a student struggles with algebraic equations but understands patterns well, I'll help them recognize consistent relationships between numbers before jumping into formulas. Once they see the logic, the equations start to make sense. My goal is always to make learning feel less like memorization and more like problem solving, something the student can actually own. My Credentials: I'm a University of Florida student majoring in Finance with a 730 SAT Math score. My internship in New York City strengthened my financial and analytical skills, while nearly three years at Target taught me communication, patience, and emotional intelligence. I've tutored students before and constantly work with my two younger siblings, which has made me patient and creative in how I explain ideas.

Outside of academics, I enjoy cooking, creative projects, and music, which inspire me to continue learning about the world. I love getting to know students!! I am a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin with a degree in Aerospace Engineering and a minor in Business. Throughout my undergraduate career, I developed a strong foundation in applied mathematics, physics, coding, and engineering systems, and I've enjoyed translating that knowledge into tutoring experiences. I've worked as a coding instructor, teaching students of all ages the basics of programming logic and Python. I've also helped peers with subjects like calculus, physics, MATLAB, and engineering design. While I tutor a wide range of STEM subjects, my favorite areas are calculus, physics, and SAT Math because they combine logic, speed, and strategy. I help students build confidence and accuracy on standardized tests by breaking down question patterns, reviewing key math concepts, and practicing time-saving techniques. My teaching style is straightforward, friendly, and adaptiveI meet students where they are and build from there. Outside of tutoring, I love to travel, play sports, and follow any space explorations developments.

I am a 2020 graduate of Rice University and currently in my final year of Medical School. Throughout my academic and professional journey, I've found that one of the most rewarding parts of education is helping others reach their potential. I've worked with students across many stages, from high schoolers preparing for the SAT/ACT, to applicants refining personal statements for college and medical school, to medical students tackling board exams. In each of these settings, my goal remains the same: to help students not just learn material but learn how to learn. My teaching philosophy is built on the belief that success doesn't depend on being naturally gifted, it comes from consistency, structure, and a willingness to improve. I work with students to develop individualized study plans, set achievable milestones, and build momentum. I focus on helping students become confident learners who can approach problems with clarity and strategy. Especially in standardized test prep, I emphasize the importance of going into each question with a plan of attack. Whether it's reading comprehension, a science passage, or a medical vignette, I teach students how to prioritize information, filter out distractions, and apply what they know efficiently. Test-taking is a skill, and through consistent practice, students can go from feeling overwhelmed to feeling in control. I'm especially passionate about tutoring subjects that require strategic thinking, like exam prep, because it allows me to show students how much of academic success is not about memorizing facts, but about mastering the process. My ultimate goal is to help students become independent, confident thinkers who can take these skills beyond any one test or class.

I am currently an undergraduate student at Rice University pursuing a bachelor of science in biochemistry and cell biology on the pre-med track. One of my most memorable experiences in the medical field has been working as a research intern at Texas Children's Hospital and collaborating with genetic specialists to publish a research paper about a rare genetic disease. Medicine is truly one of my greatest passions, and biology has been one of my favorite subjects to tutor through the peer mentorship program at my high school. Through this program, I have also extensively tutored math (from middle school math all the way through IB Mathematics) and find myself drawn by the methodical nature of the subject. Many times, I find that students simply label math as "difficult" because the concepts are brand new and numbers seem like a foreign language. Relating math concepts to simpler everyday ones is one of the many strategies I use when tutoring math, and I have found a lot of success through it. Throughout high school, I have been very active in my school community as the Editor-in-Chief of the school newspaper, president of the Speech and Debate Team, and president and founder of the Random Acts of Kindness Club. Through these roles, I have mentored younger students in areas such as writing, research, and public speaking. Additionally, I am fluent in 4 languages (English, Urdu, Arabic, and Spanish), although my favorite one to teach is Spanish. Attending an international school has emphasized to me the importance of diversity, inclusion, and tolerance, and I believe that learning a new language is one of the best ways to reinforce these ideals. In my spare time, you can find me engrossed in arts and crafts, running my Etsy store, or volunteering my local art museum's kids' crafts classes. I also love listening to music, creating music on my violin, and singing various genres.

As a current freshman at Rice University studying Biochemistry and Finance, I've developed the skills and knowledge needed to situate myself in our world today. From a young age, I've always wanted to learn more. My academic journey, however, had its challenges. The expectations at my competitive high school were often daunting, allowing me to learn to be persevering and self-motivated. Instead of allowing obstacles to deter me, I used them to grow and push myself further. This deepened my appreciation for education and its power to transform someone. My love for science is fueled by curiosity and my desire to understand "why" and "how." As I completed rigorous coursework in school and challenging extracurriculars outside of it, I developed a foundation in academics, problem-solving, and time management. These lessons were invaluable in my learning career; I want to share these lessons with my students. Growing up with a younger sister, I was often her guide. I taught her subjects I learned years prior and helped her navigate her hardships. I found joy as she overcame her academic hurdles and grew her confidence. I believe patience, encouragement, and personalized instruction facilitate an empowering learning environment. College admissions, in particular, were especially challenging. The uncertainty of the process was terrifying, but the accomplishment was satisfying. I want students to feel supported through their process and have a guide through this pivotal time. Every student should know that their dreams are attainable. I am committed to making a lasting impact as a tutor, inspiring students to embrace challenges and develop the resilience needed to succeed in their academic journey. Education is not just about learning but also about building character and confidence. I strive to bring this holistic approach to every tutoring session and help students shape their success stories.

"Make your life a masterpiece, imagine no limitations on what you can be, have, or do." -Brian Tracy B.S. in Cognitive Studies and Child Development & Education at Vanderbilt University; M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. As an educator, I am honored to have the opportunity to share my knowledge in order to contribute to the success of others! I firmly believe in a holistic style of education one that places an emphasis on the student as opposed to the content. From personal experience, I am aware that every person learns differently from one another and ground my style of teaching in what best suits my students. To me, it is important to empower all students and encourage their desire to learn; after all, exams and grades are only temporary, but knowledge lasts forever! I wholeheartedly enjoy teaching all subjects that fall within the realm of my expertise, but I am especially passionate about biology, chemistry, mathematics, writing, and most of all teaching how to learn!
