I have experience with Computer Science from a student, professional, and teaching perspective. I understand what it feels like when you are completely stuck on a problem or concept, so when teaching I use scaffolding to break concepts down into manageable parts. I have experience teaching Computer Science to a classroom of 20 high school students from different socioeconomic backgrounds. This included daily lectures, mentoring, and one on one tutoring/debugging, among other responsibilities. I also gained experience tutoring college students during my time as an undergraduate. I emphasize understanding the concepts behind a problem, not just getting the assignment working, and use real world examples to allow the student to understand through their own perspective!

I am a third year medical student at Loyola University Chicago. I have experience tutoring pre-med college students and 1st and 2nd year medical students for their admission exams (MCAT and USMLE Step 1) and find that it helps to have someone who is in the same boat. I also have experience teaching elementary students to read and write. As a student myself, I know how important having the right educator is to learning. Not everyone learns in the same way and I think every student deserves to make sure they are being taught or explained something in a way that makes sense to them. My teaching philosophy is focusing on figuring out how to make the learning "fun" by getting learners excited about what they know / what their potential is. Finding new ways to teach a topic can help alleviate that frustration and can give the "ah ha" moment all learners love. I am curious and eager to learn from the students as much as they are. I think bringing the perspective of a student to tutor other students (although at a different stage) allows for more of a connection to be formed and perhaps can help facilitate the ease of understanding topics.Outside of academia, I love biking, cooking, and playing with my cat! I am excited to meet learners.

I'm a second-year Mechanical Engineering student at the Cooper Union with a passion for math. Happy to help with Algebra, Calculus, SAT Math, and perhaps a smidge of Trig, Vector Calculus, and Linear Algebra on the side. :)I've worked in a tutor-like capacity for over two years, helping students in my high school's Learning Commons learn subjects such as Algebra, Trigonometry, and Differential and Integral Calculus. I've also worked with students studying for the SAT and SHSAT.I'd say that I'm a tutor that tries to diagnose and treat issues as quickly as possible by having the student talk through their thought processes while they work. I don't think it's particularly helpful to handhold students through the problems without letting them first take a crack at them by themselves.Looking forward to working with any potential tutees!

I am a graduate of the University of Minnesota. I received my Bachelor of Science in Business with a focus on marketing as well as my Bachelor of Arts in Strategic Communications with a focus on creative advertising. I managed to receive both degrees within four years while balancing the life of a student-athlete competing on Minnesota's swimming and diving team, this taught me a great deal about valuable study skills, organization and maximizing one's time. Since graduation I have spent a few years traveling and living abroad in both Europe and Asia working as an acrobat meanwhile continuing to learn, read and study languages. I am passionate about tutoring as a way to use my knowledge to help others reach their goals. I hold experience as a writing and math tutor, although I feel comfortable tutoring an even broader range of subjects. I am a very hardworking, outgoing, goal-oriented person. I am a firm proponent of education and love finding creative ways to help others better understand difficult material and new ways of reaching their academic goals.

A recent graduate of Dartmouth College, I received my Bachelor of Arts in Theater modified with Leadership. Valedictorian of my high school in New Mexico, I attended Dartmouth with the aspiration of becoming a mathematician before finding my passion in the theater. I'm now living in New York City pursuing a career in casting and producing theater. Although I have found my passion in the arts, I find great fulfillment tutoring math and science, because I think it's important for students to know they can succeed in these challenging subjects. I seek to develop an individual learning plan for each student, discovering the tools that will best help them succeed. My previous private tutoring clients have gone on to graduate at the top of their class. In addition, I am also an experienced SAT and ACT prep tutor.

ACT Reading Tutor • +26 Subjects

I am a graduate of Southwestern University, where I received my degree in art history and am currently pursuing my master's of library science from the University of North Texas. I'm so very interested in helping students because it is my ultimate pleasure to help people learn and see them enjoy what they are learning. I have a fair amount of experience with students (generally children): I have served as an education intern at an historical museum, mentored middle school students, worked at a children's museum, and taught children of preschool age all the way up till eighth grade. The subject in my tutoring repertoire is art history (specifically preparing for the Advanced Placement Art History exam). I particularly enjoy tutoring this subject because I am so familiar with it. As a high school student, my interest in art history was piqued because of a great teacher, so I'd love to cultivate the same feeling in my students. I think when it comes to any subject, a student will benefit most if their instructor is able to relate to them and make the material relatable. I consider that to be my general approach when it comes to teaching. In my spare time, I enjoy reading and watching movies.

In my spare time, I enjoy finding alternative methods for enriching my health such as exercise, running, cycling, swimming, and researching new healthy recipes.
