I hold a Bachelor's degree in Organizational Communication and Public Relations and a Master's degree in Education with an emphasis on reading education from the University of Texas at El Paso. With over 8 years of experience working with k-12 children in various disciplines including reading and writing- I believe in empowering learners through encouragement and positive mentorship. For the last 5 years I've worked with veterans and people with disabilities to strengthen their organizational and life skills training to maintain and improve quality work performance in writing, business, and reading domains. I enjoy creating lesson plans that involves experiential learning where the student feels they are making progress and are motivated to engage in learning independently. My philosophy on teaching is that it is a creative and collaborative process that starts with the teacher meeting the student where student's are and presenting dynamic yet effective ways to reach their potential. Teaching is social and calls for building a relationship based on mutual respect, sharing ideas and organizing and clarifying goals. As an instructor it is rewarding to take part in this wondrous process where children are discovering and initiating in their own learning and understanding. Education has continued to be a fun and enjoyable part of my life as I learn so much as well from the teaching process.
