I am a fifth-year undergraduate student at the University of Georgia. I am getting my bachelor's degree in Statistics, and will also be pursuing a master's in Educational Psychology. This strongly supports my passion for education and helping others learn and grow. I plan to use my statistics background to get an administrative job as an analyst in a local school system. I am currently a math and statistics peer tutor with UGA, and I have been tutoring peers since my sophomore year of high school. I tutor high school math, college-level algebra and pre-calculus, as well as high school and college-level statistics. Rather than a test-prep type of tutoring style that is predominantly focused on passing assessments, I prefer to make sure my students understand the "why" of what is going on in addition to the "how" aspect of solving problems. I believe that this is necessary to effective learning and critical thinking. My favorite moment when I am tutoring is seeing the metaphorical lightbulb turn on above my students' heads when I am able to explain a concept to them that they did not previously understand. I love seeing students make connections with the curriculum and truly grasp tricky concepts. I feel as though it is my duty to help as many students as possible to cement material in their minds, so that they can use that knowledge to the best of their ability.
