Hi! Thank you for considering me as your tutor. I hope you and your family are able to find a tutor who can best meet your needs, even if that tutor is not me.
I am currently teaching 7-8th grade Math/Special Education. This is my fifth school year working in SpEd: four years as a head teacher, and one year as an assistant teacher. I have experience working with students with a variety of learning and emotional disabilities, as well as students with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
I have been tutoring for 10 years, with the bulk of my tutoring experience coming from employment with Huntington Learning Center, and freelance tutoring. My preferred tutoring grade levels are 5-12, however, I have experience working with PreK-3 grade-level students, as well as adult learners.
Like most good tutors, my teaching philosophy is to adapt to the learning style of the student. What makes me a great educator, though, is my emphasis on relationship-building instead of a sole focus on academic achievement. It is important to me that my students know I am invested in their whole being, rather than just their content knowledge. In turn, my students tend to show a greater investment in our tutoring experience and their education. What results is a more intuitive and instinctive learning environment which--when coupled with my teaching experience--allows me to develop and implement an education plan that promotes not only the student's academic growth, but their personal growth as well.
I'm excited for the opportunity to work with you, and look forward to helping your student improve and thrive!
