A little about myself: I'm a playwright living in Brooklyn, sticking to tutoring and other flexible work because it gives me the time and space need to work on my writing. I attended Columbia University as an Anthropology and Theatre major, and focused on writing while I was in school. After getting my BA, I stayed in New York! I've been tutoring here ever since I came to college, and generally stick to the humanities: English, history, literature, sociology, anthropology, and other analytical subjects. However, I'm also comfortable tutoring biology, since it's been a passion of mine since high school!
I work with all ages, from elementary school to underclassmen in college, and my biggest priority is the student. Tutoring is far and away my favorite thing to do as a freelancer. Teaching - discussions, exercises, personal discoveries, and interesting thoughts - all of it is exciting to me, and gives me a mental boost that actually helps my writing! I find an easy rhythm in organizing lesson efficiently, and I pride myself on my ability to keep track of what's asked of me and how I can best put my efforts to use helping my students. I also love forming long-term relationships - I've been tutoring one family for more than 6 years, which is exactly how long I've been in New York!
Outside of tutoring, I do a lot of yoga, work in theatre, hang out with my cat, and drink a ton of green tea! I also love to talk long, crazy nature walks, and I love hanging out in museums and parks and other hubs of activity in New York City. Always looking for the next fun thing!
