Latin Tutoring review by Ralston in Georgetown, TX
Focused on the perfect stem/tense of verbs, sum, and possum in addition to reviewing personal and relative pronouns and the dative of possession. Notified the student that she needs to review her pronouns. Finished by translating most of a passage in the current chapter in her textbook.

Latin Tutoring review by Christopher in Georgetown, TX
Today we tackled chapters 1 and 2 of the textbooks, with emphasis on the first declension nouns and first conjugation verbs. I'm trying to strike the right balance between rote learning (grammar drills) and sentence comprehension and composition, but for the time being our sessions will be more intensive on the grammar and paradigms. I assigned some extra work using a web companion.

Latin Tutoring review by Amy in Georgetown, TX
This session we practiced translation, mostly using sentences from the National Archive. The student received an 89 on her last test, her highest score yet! She was struggling to translate words according to their Latin case, instead of their individual meanings. No extra practice. No concerns.

Latin Tutoring review by Alexandra in Georgetown, TX
The student and I covered a variety of topics he has recently been taught in class including third declension nouns, third conjugation verbs (with emphasis on the formation of the future tense) and a few more uses of the ablative case. Per the student's request, we also translated a number of sentences in order to improve his translating skills. He is getting much better at catching himself when he tries to follow word order rather than focus on the Latin endings and determine the grammatical function first. I think continued practice following a set "formula" for breaking down sentences (identifying the verb first, then finding a nominative noun that matches, then dealing with prepositional phrases, etc.) will continue to make translating more routine for him.

Latin Tutoring review by Ariana in Georgetown, TX
The student and I spent today's session translating a passage of his book. This is actually part of the next chapter, but was good practice for him. He is doing much better with his translations. He is slowly starting to recognize the importance of translating the subject and verbs first. Regardless, he is making good progress. he definitely needs to review his vocab.

Latin Tutoring review by Andrew in Georgetown, TX
This week, I worked with the student on his translation homework, where we got a lot of practice with recognizing and translating indirect statements. Then, we spent the rest of the session reviewing and practicing translating the future passive participle, which shows up with several different uses.
