I got into tutoring on campus as a way to make some money while simultaneously cultivating my understanding of material relevant to my field of study (medicine).
I quickly came to appreciate the position and the interaction between student and tutor, which promotes growth for both parties.
The subjects most relevant to my current coursework include organic chemistry (I and II), general chemistry (I and II), human physiology and microbiology. I look forward to taking physics, genetics and biochemistry next year, among other courses.
As a peer mentor, I aim to create a tailored experience based not only on preferential learning styles but on individualized goals (why did you sign up for tutoring? What are your expectations and what do you hope to walk away with?).
