I am a graduate of Penn State University at University Park with a bachelor's degree in Geography. After college, I went on to teach high school math for 8 years in Philadelphia. While teaching I attended St. Joe's University in the evenings and summers to earn my M.S. in secondary mathematics education. I have taught all high school math subjects from 9th grade Algebra 1 up to Senior Calculus. My favorite subjects to tutor are Algebra 1 and Algebra 2; I feel these subjects lend themselves so nicely to the real-world. My tutoring approach is to help students learn how to problem solve and think critically. True success in math comes when students struggle through a problem and then ultimately find a solution or solutions because they have the resourcefulness and reasoning skills necessary to not give up. When I am not tutoring or working I am usually traveling; I am lucky enough to have been to five continents (including North America). I am also an avid reader and cook.
