SAT Tutoring review by Bert in South Holland, IL
Today I focused almost exclusively with Math with the student. Because he has scored extremely well on the math portion for the PSAT, I gave him a ~100 problem sampling of every type of math questions found on the test and had him do 2-3 for each type to pinpoint where his weak spots are. He really had the right mindset in approaching many of these problems and the only issue that really came up were minor problems with factoring and algebra. More specifically, I taught him about being able to factor the difference of two squares and how to approach different algebra questions by factoring completely. Another minor issue was his confidence in working with exponents, which I will cover for our next session. While I was checking his work, I have also had him work on PSAT writing questions he previously got wrong. From 6-7 questions he previously failed to get correct, he was able to correctly answer 5 of them. The two incorrect attempts were related to correct conjunction usage, so I also re-reviewed that with him. In the follow-up email, I sent him a comprehensive list of ~400 math questions to complete for next time.

SAT Tutoring review by Michael in South Holland, IL
We reviewed and discussed the list of English words and Latin/Greek roots vocab the student had memorized in the last week. She did very well, and had even made herself a quiz handout to test herself. I assigned the next set of vocab for the week. She has still not done a full length practice test, but we made plans for her to do so next weekend. However, she did do some Writing multiple choice problems on her own. We graded and debriefed about them. Then we continued with timed Writing practice multiple choice sections in practice tests and debriefed about problems after each section. We will do more next weekend.

SAT Tutoring review by Joseph in South Holland, IL
The student and I began our SAT prep with a basic overview of the test structure, including how it differs from the PSAT which she took last fall. We looked at some sample essay prompts (and I asked the student to complete one before our next session), and she tried out some practice questions from each section of the test. She got most of the questions right, but there are some issues still to isolate and address.
