My academic background is focused on the Biological Sciences, Writing, and Editing. I have worked as an Educator in the fields of Nutrition and Sustainable Agriculture. Both fields require a thorough understanding of Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, and other Sciences. The age range of students I have worked with is broad, from elementary students to young adults. This variety has made me a more flexible Teacher and I am comfortable with changing my approach to best meet my students' needs.
It is important to respect each students' individual learning styles and help them figure out how they can best work with their strengths. Students need information presented as simply as possible, yet can benefit from thinking about the same information in different ways; striking this balance keeps students engaged. I also answer and ask questions carefully, helping students learn how to think through problems on their own and truly understand the correct answers. Through working with me, students can become more independent and confident, knowing that they have the critical thinking skills needed to continue to learn and meet their goals.
