I have been a in education, both teaching in public schools and tutoring for over 30 years! I enjoy teaching about the things I love, such as Spanish, all elementary subjects, writing and reading. I am excited about what I teach, what I learn, as well as biking, hiking, swimming, scuba diving and travel. I know you'll enjoy working with me. I am patient and friendly. I am usually calm and sometimes silly. I craft enjoyable, engrossing lessons where you walk way thinking "wow! Being a student is a difficult undertaking. I wish this had been available when I was in school. I enjoy working with students and helping them understand their subject matter. I earned my education in Oklahoma and Kansas in Psychology (BA degree), Sociology, Clinical Addictions Counseling, and Social Work (LMSW). I am not currently in school but preparing to begin the process of working for a clinical social work license. I enjoy addictions the most because it is my passion, closely followed by psychology, social work, and sociology. My teaching philosophy is that we are all capable of learning. The tutoring platform allows me to tailor my teaching based on a single individual. Practical applications have been the key to my own learning, and I have experienced them as helpful. My style is somewhat informal as it is easier for people to learn from a place of calm rather than anxious. Outside of academia I enjoy walking in nature, music, movies, art that speaks to me, and generally, anything that feeds my senses and my soul. I look forward to meeting you.

My degree is from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah Oklahoma where my professors always focused on meeting each child's individual learning style. I believe fun can always be a part of learning no matter what the subject and that the student and teacher are in that journey together. When I'm not teaching I enjoy being outside, painting, or anything creative. Throughout high school, I tutored in a variety of subjects, but I am most passionate about teaching subjects in the sciences including Biology, Chemistry, and Psychology, as well as basic math skills such as Pre-Algebra/Algebra. In my experience, helping struggling students with the sciences/math enables them to develop a passion for the subject and evidently enjoy learning more about these topics. I'm not just a tutor; I'm a Fortune 3 Senior Software Engineer with six years of professional experience delivering production-ready code. Along the way, I've mentored new hires, written documentation, managed projects, and reviewed code. Teaching and knowledge-sharing have been part of my daily work for more than a decade. Outside of Computer Science, I'm also a practiced tutor across numerous subjects and ages. I understand all kinds of students, neurotypical or neurodivergent, academically inclined or those who struggle in a classroom. I've worked with Elementary, High School, College, and Adult learners. My subjects include: - Science - Math - English - Writing - Reading - Technology - Business My goal is simple: help students understand complex concepts through clear explanations, relatable metaphors, and practical examples. I love seeing "Aha!" moments when theory finally clicks into practice. Diving further into technology, I can help with tools like MS Visio, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Word, Git and GitHub. I can help with Computer Science concepts from APIs to Zero-based indexing and everything in between. For software, I specialize in Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP). I'm also familiar with Programming Languages and tools such as Java, C#, SQL, UiPath, and HTML/CSS/JavaScript. I understand the professional process and have taken part in Software Engineering practices like Agile, Scrum, and the full Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC). Whether you're preparing for an exam, struggling with an assignment, prepping for a coding interview, or working on a professional project, I'll tailor each lesson to your learning style. Every student needs an appropriate level of both comfort and challenge. And, while age is a critical factor, I understand that each student is unique. My goal each week is that you walk away not just understanding the material but feeling confident in applying it. I look forward to helping you grow!

I hold a BA with honors in English, and I am currently pursuing my MA in English. I've worked as a writing consultant at my university's writing center, so I'm experienced in helping with essays in any subject, even subjects that I might not know much about-- I focus on quality and clarity of writing, and would rather work with you to help you grow than just do the work for you. I've also worked with the 826 program, working to tutor high school students in many subjects, and have had the chance to run several college essay workshops.Outside of the "professional academic" world, I like to use my minor in writing creatively. I've been a writer for about ten years, and have won several awards (and recently had a poem of mine published!). Just like almost every writing tutor, I'm working on a novel (I work a lot in the fantasy and young/new adult genres).I'm primarily a writing tutor, and I believe in writing as a means of deepening your own understanding. My personal expertise lies mostly in the arts and social sciences, but I love working in subjects I'm not as familiar with! If I'm not as familiar with the subject matter, it helps the person I'm working with break things down to a base level so they can show they understand the topic well enough to explain it to someone on the "outside," and I maintain this approach even when working with students in my field.Whether you're looking for help on an academic paper, a college essay, or a creative endeavor, I can't wait to work with you!

It's not boring. Really! I like to teach and talk about U.S. History, Economics, and U.S. Government. In fact, ALL of those fit together. don't they?? I believe our history helps explain how and why things are the way they are today. When people say "How did this happen?" or "Why do we do it this way"? or "the Electoral College...?", I want to talk about it and explain how it happened, or why we do it, or what the Electoral College is all about. Yes, I watch the News (too much) and try to figure out what's going on - and why. They Why is important! I'll enjoy working with students and talking through important issues of the day.

I am a teacher with 29 years of experience, holding a Master's in Reading Intervention and certifications in Spanish and French. I am passionate about helping learners identify their gaps and areas of growth to guide them to mastery. For my master's study, I had a class of 22 Juniors who took the Pre-ACT. Eleven of the students received a sub-score ranging from 11 to 19. I identified two reading strategies that would most effectively improve my students' reading proficiency. I explicitly taught students the annotation rules for finding the main idea and supporting details. I taught morphology to increase students' vocabulary and their ability to recognize words and their meanings based on root words and affixes. When the students took the ACT in April, they increased their reading scores by 8 points. I believe that once a learner gains higher self-esteem as a reader and scholar, they become internally motivated to continue achieving success in all areas of academics.

Sometimes learning can be scary. If you are anything like me, you may find yourself becoming overwhelmed by the prospect of diving into something that you don't fully understand yet. And guess what? That means you're doing something right! Growing is scary, but it's not nearly as scary when you have someone to help you out! My philosophy is that learning works best when students feel comfortable and confident. I focus on meeting students where they are, breaking things down in a way that actually makes sense, and creating a low-pressure space where questions are always welcome.
