With years of experience as an educator, I have had the pleasure of teaching students from a variety of backgrounds and age groups. I am qualified to teach students between the ages of 4 and 13. I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education from Northeastern State University and a Master's Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Central Oklahoma. I am passionate about education and about helping students succeed in an ever-changing world. The subjects I tutor include Elementary School English, Math, Phonics, Presentation Skills, Reading, STAAR, Science, Study Skills and Organization, Writing, and Test Preparation. My favorite subjects to tutor are Phonics, Reading, and Math. My teaching philosophy is to make each session with a student as engaging and productive as possible. I believe a teacher should adjust to each student's needs by using strategies that best fit the learner. I have found that it is most effective to develop reasoning and critical thinking skills by asking open-ended questions and guiding students to form their own inferences about topics. I have helped students achieve their academic goals by filling knowledge gaps, modeling, enrichment, and providing opportunities for practice in order to reach their intended outcomes.

Sometimes learning can be scary. If you are anything like me, you may find yourself becoming overwhelmed by the prospect of diving into something that you don't fully understand yet. And guess what? That means you're doing something right! Growing is scary, but it's not nearly as scary when you have someone to help you out! My philosophy is that learning works best when students feel comfortable and confident. I focus on meeting students where they are, breaking things down in a way that actually makes sense, and creating a low-pressure space where questions are always welcome.

I have taught in education for over 30 years. I began working in child care centers, received my Associates Degree in Child and Family Relations and my Bachelors Degree in Family and Consumer Sciences. I worked in Head Start for many years as well as in the public school system starting out as an assistant and becoming a teacher. I am dependable, have excellent computers skills as well as time management and an eagerness to teach and learn from everyone I meet. I enjoy teaching others, assisting them in their goals, while making the learning process fun and exciting.

I am a graduate of Northeastern State University. I received my Bachelors of Secondary Education in English, my Bachelors of Liberal Arts in Drama, and my Masters of Education in Reading. I have taught a variety of subjects which include: 8th, 9th, 11th, and 12th grade English Language Arts, Advanced Placement Literature and Composition, Creative Writing, Speech, and I was an Assistant Speech Drama and Debate coach for one year. English and Reading are my favorite subjects to tutor because stories can take us many exciting places. Outside of academia, I love mountain biking, bowfishing, watching television, and video gaming. I am a current student at Northeastern University and I am studying for my Bachelor's degree in Health Science and Psychology. Throughout high school, I tutored in a variety of subjects, but I am most passionate about teaching subjects in the sciences including Biology, Chemistry, and Psychology, as well as basic math skills such as Pre-Algebra/Algebra. In my experience, helping struggling students with the sciences/math enables them to develop a passion for the subject and evidently enjoy learning more about these topics. I am a firm believer that everyone has a right to education, and I understand that sometimes school doesn't fulfill this, and that's why I am here to help.

I have a B.S. in Mathematics and Statistics, and an M.S. in Applied Statistics from Michigan Tech. I apply my math and statistics knowledge by working full-time as a data analyst. I have been sharing my passion for mathematics tutoring math and statistics since 2020. My experience in tutoring includes Statistics, Calculus, Pre-Calculus, Algebra, and any math classes in between. My name is David Nguyen. I am Math Instructor at Carl Albert State College and Upward Bound Tutor at University of Arkansas - Fort Smith. I started my current position in September 2025 and February 2026. I have Associate of Art in Secondary Education from Rogers State University, Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Northeastern State University, and Master of Education in Curriculum & Instruction (Math) at Southeastern Oklahoma State University. I also have Alternative Certificate of Teaching Intermediate Mathematics in Oklahoma and Certificate of Mathematical Science from Shawnee State University. I have lived, studied, and worked in Oklahoma since 2009. I used to work as a Tutor at Northeastern State University, Math Lab Assistant at Tulsa Community College, Adjunct Instructor at Bacone College & Rogers State University, Math/Science Specialist at Independence Community College, and Tutor/Math Specialist at Carl Albert State College before my current position. I hold a BA with honors in English, and I am currently pursuing my MA in English. I've worked as a writing consultant at my university's writing center, so I'm experienced in helping with essays in any subject, even subjects that I might not know much about-- I focus on quality and clarity of writing, and would rather work with you to help you grow than just do the work for you. I've also worked with the 826 program, working to tutor high school students in many subjects, and have had the chance to run several college essay workshops.Outside of the "professional academic" world, I like to use my minor in writing creatively. I've been a writer for about ten years, and have won several awards (and recently had a poem of mine published!). Just like almost every writing tutor, I'm working on a novel (I work a lot in the fantasy and young/new adult genres).I'm primarily a writing tutor, and I believe in writing as a means of deepening your own understanding. My personal expertise lies mostly in the arts and social sciences, but I love working in subjects I'm not as familiar with! I am a science nerd! I spent six years studying Biology, both as an undergrad and graduate student. I enjoy teaching!! It was the best part of being a graduate student. I was part of a peer tutoring/teaching program at my University, Northeastern State University. I helped a few students achieve a higher grade in their Biology courses. I was also a TA during grad school and helped teach Physical Science and Physics lab. I am currently trying to go to law school.

The most important thing I've learn in 23 years of teaching & coaching is to meet the student where they are and help them grow to where they want to be. My degree is from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah Oklahoma where my professors always focused on meeting each child's individual learning style.
