Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I completed his review for his quiz tomorrow. He has some practice problems to finish for the questions that are most challenging to him. He is fairly confident in his abilities for this quiz. I believe he is more ready than with previous material, given that some of this material is a bit more straightforward and easier to grasp. He seems to better understand vocabulary and concepts in this chapter, which will help him be more successful on the exam."
"The student and I completed the chapter review from her math book. It featured multiples, factors, composite numbers, and prime numbers. He is getting the concept of factoring and multiples, but has a little trouble applying them to real world problems. We'll continue to work on that in our next session."
"The student and I concentrated on a reading passage with specific words highlighted. He read the passage 3 times, and did well each time. Next, we focused on spelling various words by sounding them out, and he did well."
"The student and I continued going over the sheets he had from class. He is beginning to understand the information more and is becoming more confident when solving certain types of problems. Today we covered absolute values and how to solve problems with them. The student caught on very quickly so we did not have to spend so much time on some of the problems. The rest of the session we spent on review. The student forgot some of the exponent rules as well as how to combine fractions, so we will continue to work on that in future sessions. Besides that, he is making good progress on most of the topics."
"The student and I continued our practice of multi-step problems involving fractions to better his organizational skills. This serves not only that purpose, but also the purpose of reviewing for his cumulative exam coming up in mid-December."
"The student and I continued our work with geometry today. We focused on finding the perimeter of several different polygons, as well as finding exterior angles. Again, she seems very comfortable with these topics. I am noticing that she is becoming more orderly with her work, which I believe plays a major part in her comfort with this material."
