We've had the BEST experience with VT! Our tutor has helped my middle schoolers math grades come up from a D to an A for our 8th grader and from a D to a B for my 6th grader. I'm beyond pleased with how she connected with my boys.

We covered modern issues per his social studies homework. The student primarily struggled with following through with explanation and evidence. When we discussed the material further, however, the student had a general sense of a lot of the issues at hand, though he lacked the verbal ability and confidence to explain himself. This is something we will work on.

We went through a review packet from the student's teacher to prepare him for a test the next day. The material included limits, limit definitions of derivatives, and very basic derivative application (power rule only, using derivatives to find a slope or match a given slope). Overall, he does understand the material and I believe he will do well on the test.

1) We reviewed implicit differentiation, orthogonal families of curves, and related rates. 2) The student did very well on most of the problems. On the ones she was having trouble with, once she got going, she did fine and was able to finish them. 3) I mentioned a few exercises from her textbook that she could try. 4) She told me that she almost got a perfect score on her recent related rates quiz, so I was very happy to hear that. 5) I think she is doing very well with the material we've been reviewing, and I think that she should do well on her test this week.
