I am a native Chinese language speaker and still looking for any good nursing program. Moreover, I want to earn more professionally accredited certificates during this pandemic. I had been working on my ITTT TEFL and TESOL training since the beginning of last October. In the same month, I got accepted from Southern New Hampshire University and enrolled in their Community Health Education online program. I was so excited and nervous about this new experience, but I am doing well so far. I finished my human subjects research training from the CITI program on December 4, which is only valid for three years. I completed the 50-hour CTEYL (Certificate of Teaching English for Young Learners) course on October 1 and got the certificate on October 4. I just had a short-term experience teaching Mandarin Chinese this year. I accomplished the 120-hour TEFL/TESOL training course at International TEFL/TESOL training (ittt) on March 30 and got TESOL certified on April 1. I was graduated from College of DuPage with AS, AA, and AGS in May 2018.I love volunteering and interpretation for all kinds of people. Here, I'd love to help others to understand the language I usually speak. If I can do some specific subjects, I would like to help students to understand the material for mathematical and psychological statistics, sociology, psychology: Life Spin, Humanities, and Chinese and French history. I had an experience teaching kids art design at a sunday school for two years. I also had an experience assisting the director of Humanities department in teaching kids Humanities there for one year.

Hi! I'm Erika, and I live in Blair, Nebraska. Tutoring students in math is a passion of mine. I believe a tutor must have the success of each unique student as her top priority. I am especially interested in helping my students who struggle a lot with math - to help them gain the confidence and ability to use their mathematical knowledge in their own personal situations outside the classroom. All students learn math in different ways, and I work really hard to read my students - to know what is or is not working and why. I try to be lighthearted and energetic in my teaching, and I try to build a relationship with each of my students so each of them knows I am interested in them as individuals, not just as math students.I have been a stay-at-home mom of 3 kids for over 16 years, and it is time for me to try something new! Since I taught all levels of high school math, and tutoring is so important to me, I chose to pursue a position with Varsity Tutors. Aside from tutoring, I also own a creative business, making tshirt and memory quilts, bulletin boards, and more. I enjoy traveling and reading, as well

As a Physics major in undergraduate and graduate school, I have had many opportunities over the past 10 years to teach others, both as a teaching assistant and as personal tutor. I find the experience of helping students understand Math and Physics concepts, using their perspective and knowledge as a starting point, very rewarding. I believe that with the right teaching methods, anyone can excel in these subjects through hard work and perseverance. I hope to give my students the tools to confidently tackle any problem not only in Math and Physics, but across other subjects as well.

I am a lover of languages, books and logic puzzles with 8 years of experience as a teacher, tutor and mentor. My tutoring experience began in high school, working with high school Latin students and elementary-age reading and math students. During my time at Oberlin College, where I studied Latin and Computer Science, I continued to work as a third-grade classroom assistant, a high-school algebra tutor, and a mentor to high school students seeking to improve their grades and craft successful college essays. Following my graduation in 2012, I worked for two years as an ESL teacher at Shanxi Agricultural University in Shanxi, China. After my 8 years as a tutor, teacher and mentor, my students have been adult learners, first grade beginning readers, and each grade level in between. I enjoy finding that balance between challenge and support that is unique to each student.

I am proud to be a part of the Varsity Tutors team. In this role I am able to combine two passions of mine: academic success and helping others. I have previously tutored high school and college students in a wide variety of subject areas from English literature to business. I hope to bring my guidance and expertise to students who need it.I grew up in Franklin Square, NY and attended H. Frank Carey High School. During HS I pursued an interest in business through participation in the Future Business Leaders of America. I was also actively involved in the National Honor Society; part of my role in this club was to tutor students for general coursework and SAT preparation. I achieved a "5" on several AP exams including World History, US History, and English, and I graduated in the top 4% of my class (2005).In 2009 I graduated cum laude from the Macaulay Honors College at Queens College with high honors in English. In obtaining my bachelors degree, I also continued my interest in business through the Business and Liberal Arts program. Throughout my time at Queens College, I began to work in part-time managerial roles and privately tutor students in various subject areas.Over the past few years, I continued my professional development, which now includes 4+ years of full-time management experience. I leveraged my academic and professional success into acceptance into the prestigious Zicklin School of Business at Baruch College where I am currently pursuing my MBA.With my academic success comes a responsibility to assist students in their scholastic growth. I look forward to showcasing my abilities for Varsity Tutors to reach a new audience of eager students. I am confident I can have an exceedingly positive impact on the lives of these students.

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Science with majors in Mathematics and Physics and I also have an Associate Degree with a major in Business Administration. I am a self- motivated person who grew interest into tutoring as a hobby. It started when I was in my High school and helped my nephews with their math and science homework. Since then, tutoring became a fun activity for me. I am more passionate about tutoring Mathematics, especially Algebra. With this passion, someday I hope I will become an enthusiastic and dedicated educator and hope to see the children that I teach to be successful leaners.

I graduated in 2011 from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester MA. There I received my Bachelor's of Arts in Classics (that is, Latin and ancient Greek literature) with a concentration in Peace & Conflict Studies; right now I'm taking classes to ready myself for grad school for Psychology.During undergrad, I tutored Latin for the Classics Honors Society and volunteered as an ESL teacher. After graduating, I moved to Spain and built on my volunteer experience by obtaining a TEFL certficate and tutoring and teaching there for the duration of my visa; when I returned to Philadelphia, I started working as a classroom ESL teacher for Kaplan International.Maybe because of these experiences, my favorite subjects to help with tend to be those most involved with language - Latin, Spanish, Reading/Writing skills - as well as Psychology, a more recent passion. I'm also happy to assist students with math for test prep like the SAT and GRE. As a tutor I would consider my style to be supportive but challenging - I want my students to realize how capable they are, and to do that, they need to work! I believe in a relaxed and friendly environment but I know my clients' time is valuable, and we'll spend it as effectively as possible.

Yes. With an average student-teacher ratio of 13.3:1 in Arlington Heights schools, many students benefit from personalized 1-on-1 instruction to get the individualized attention they need. Tutoring fills that gap, allowing students to ask questions, work at their own pace, and dive deeper into concepts that may get rushed in a classroom setting.
Tutors who work with Varsity Tutors are familiar with Illinois State Standards and the specific expectations for each grade level and subject. They tailor instruction to help students master the skills and content they need to succeed on Illinois assessments and in their coursework, whether that's in math, reading, science, or other core subjects.
Students in Arlington Heights seek tutoring across a wide range of subjects, including math (algebra, geometry, pre-calculus), English and reading comprehension, science, and standardized test preparation. The specific needs vary by grade level—younger students often focus on foundational math and reading skills, while high schoolers frequently need support with advanced math and test prep for the ACT or SAT.
The first session is an opportunity for the tutor to understand your student's current level, learning style, and specific goals. They'll assess where your student is strong and where they need support, then develop a personalized plan. This foundation helps ensure every session after that is focused and productive.
Varsity Tutors works with the schedules of Arlington Heights families, offering personalized instruction at times that fit your family's needs. Whether your student needs help after school, on weekends, or during the school year or summer, we connect them with tutors who can accommodate their schedule.
Results vary by student and their starting point, but many students see improvements in grades, test scores, and confidence. Some students focus on mastering a specific skill or concept, while others work toward bigger goals like improving their GPA or preparing for standardized tests. A tutor will work with your student to set clear, achievable goals and track progress along the way.
Varsity Tutors connects students with tutors who have strong subject expertise and experience working with students in their grade level or subject area. Tutors go through a vetting process to ensure they're qualified and a good fit for each student's needs. You'll get someone who knows the material and knows how to teach it effectively.
