As a dedicated educator with over 7 years of experience teaching elementary students, I am passionate about helping learners build confidence, master new skills, and develop a lifelong love of learning. I have taught 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades in public schools and have also worked as a specialty teacher in music, art, PE, and STEM for grades K5. In addition to my classroom experience, I taught English to Korean school teachers through Eleutian Technology, where I honed my ability to differentiate instruction and support diverse learning needs.
I believe effective teaching begins with understanding where a student is and where they need to go. I use a backward-planning approachfocusing on the learning goal first, then designing lessons that meet students at their level and guide them step-by-step toward success. I tailor instruction to match each learner's strengths, challenges, and interests, and I use encouragement, clear explanations, and meaningful practice to help concepts stick.
My strongest subjects include reading, writing, math, and science at the elementary level. I'm especially passionate about literacy and foundational math skills, and I love creating engaging, student-centered lessons that make learning fun and accessible. I work best with elementary and early middle school students and am confident in supporting a wide range of learning styles and academic needs.
As a tutor with Varsity Tutors, I aim to create a warm, positive environment where students feel safe to ask questions, make mistakes, and grow. My goal is not just to help students improve their grades but to help them believe in themselves as capable, curious, and confident learners.
I enjoy hiking, outdoor water activities like kayaking and paddle boarding, reading, and learning.
