My passion for helping students comes from several areas, my own struggles at an early age with math, my experiences teaching in Chicago's inner city schools, and my strong belief in the importance math will play in the future.
I received a B.S. in Finance from Indiana University, an M.S. in Computer Science (Distributed Systems) from DePaul University and while I was teaching I pursued a M.Ed. in Secondary Mathematics Education. I am certified in Google Data Analytics, Math for Data Science and Machine Learning through Anaconda and Writing AI Prompts, also through Anaconda.
My experience working with students runs the gamut from absolute defiance towards learning, students in Santa Fe, NM whose ability to learn was hampered by a language barrier, to a student who got a perfect score on the ACT and had to be talked out of taking it again. Everyone is different, the only thing that is the same is math. That is the approach I try to take.
My favorite subjects to teach are Linear Algebra, Statistics, Calculus and Pre-Calculus, Algebra 1 & 2. In my spare time I enjoy building things and home repair. I say home repair because I do a lot of it so I must enjoy it. I recently constructed a floating home office along a river with my son.
