My name is Leila Arbaje. I am an optimistic and enthusiastic person. I am a community service professional and have worked for more than three (3) decades in a community school- program for adults in Washington Heights, New York City as a GED teacher and Program Director. The program offers parents and community members opportunities to develop their own educational skills to help their children succeed, to better participate in their children's lives, and to gain a better understanding of human values and beliefs. For 10 years, I have worked as a City College of New York volunteer helping young immigrants with academic tutoring and citizenship classes. I always help my neighbors with anything they need such as filling papers, translation, city calls, and street fairs and festivals. I am always there for my community.
I believe the foundation of any community development project is one of mutual support and integration with our neighbors. My mission is to help our community directors as well as members in making the best decisions to serve entities most in need.
