Philosopher Aristotle, "Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all", serves as the bases of my educational philosophy on an inspirational quote. In my opinion, the educating of the learner entails more than just the facilitating and learning of key educational facts and opinions. The educating of the student learner involves a holistic approach. By holistic I mean, educating the social, emotional, behavioral and learning ability of the child. In my experience working with Exceptional Education student learners, I have witnessed firsthand how said students come to the learning environment with social, emotional and behavioral problems, which impede not only their learning, but also the learning of their peers and the additional effort of teachers, administrators and staff within the building. It has always been my thought that to ensure that all students learn, that I as the educator take the time to understand what makes a particular student learner tick. My approach to accomplishing this goal is to learn about the individual through various individuals and group-based activities. Once I have accomplished this, I have developed a clearer understanding of the motivational, behavioral and emotional factors, which influence student learners' ability to achieve success within the learning environment. I feel that in education, especial in the Exceptional Education field we must learn to understand the child from a holistic approach instead of just from their academic ability. I tend to believe this to be a contributing factor to the number of students misdiagnosed or not receiving exceptional education services that are beneficial.

It is my desire to work with an Educational Organization focused on serving as a catalyst for change in transforming low performing schools located within the high population minority neighborhoods. In addition, I have a desire to improve the educational and social-emotional well-being of minority students by serving as a positive role model and demonstrating positive character and the pathway towards college and achieving success and full potential to be the best. In seeking a Leadership position with an educational organization, that focuses on the behavioral, educational, and social-emotional development of Exceptional Education students, in particular minority students through the creation of educational programs for the student learner, instructional personnel, community and parents/guardians. It is my intent to serve as a valuable resource for the development and implementation of programs at the local, state and national levels.
