My Mission Statement:
My goal is to provide instructions for both short term immediate improvement, and methods for long term success to help create independent, self-reliant individuals who can utilize such skills in personal, professional, or academic aspects of their lives.
My Personal Statement:
While working as an adjunct instructor and tutor for the past four years at Northern Virginia Community College, I have developed a strong passion for teaching and obtained considerable experience in working with students.
I am motivated and passionate about teaching largely because of my own personal experiences growing up. As a kid growing up, I endured academic difficulties from time to time. Whether these difficulties were caused by factors such as not being a good match for a teacher's style, struggling in certain subject areas, being disorganized, or just having a lack of interest, I know the stress and anxiety a struggling student can feel. Fortunately, I learned to adapt through creating my own personal teaching and workload management strategies. It is my desire to impart this wisdom unto any student in need and hopefully make their lives a little bit easier.
I have worked with individuals of all backgrounds, races, ethnicities, skill levels, and even students with learning disabilities. Experiencing such a diverse student population has resulted in a straight forward, versatile, flexible, and accommodating teaching style I employ. The core fundamentals of my teaching style are centered on simplicity/manageability, understanding the topic's significance, and instilling confidence. Through using this method, I have successfully taught students in numerous academic disciplines including Reading Comprehension and Writing, ESL, History, Geography, Geology, Philosophy, Communications, and even Political Science.
In my spare time, I enjoy playing and/or watching football, baseball, and hockey, playing guitar, doing music production, and just hanging out with friends in general.
