What is your teaching philosophy?

My teaching philosophy consists of establishing the weaknesses of my students and providing them with the right means to overcome their weaknesses. Also, turning any teaching session into an interesting learning activity.

What might you do in a typical first session with a student?

I might look for weaknesses in the subject and find out the best way the student could learn the concepts of the subject.

How can you help a student become an independent learner?

I'd advise him to read his textbook and try the practices associated.

How would you help a student stay motivated?

I'd encourage and congratulate him for his efforts.

If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?

I would try to find a good way to help him learn the skill or concept.

How do you help students who are struggling with reading comprehension?

I have students who are struggling with reading comprehension read the problem the or paragraph three times to enhance the comprehension.

What strategies have you found to be most successful when you start to work with a student?

Working on practice problems related the concept or skill.

How would you help a student get excited/engaged with a subject that they are struggling in?

By helping the student understand and apply the skills taught in the subject.

What techniques would you use to be sure that a student understands the material?

I have the student complete some practice problems.

How do you evaluate a student's needs?

With an assessment.

How do you adapt your tutoring to the student's needs?

Using adequate materials, such as guided activities or practice problems with full solutions.

What types of materials do you typically use during a tutoring session?

Textbooks, practice tests or guided activities are what I usually use during my tutoring sessions.

How do you build a student's confidence in a subject?

By having a student take graded assessments, and providing him with tutoring to overcome his/her weaknesses in the subject and build up his/her confidence.
