My name is Hyerin. I graduated in May 2016 from Case Western Reserve University with a BA in Economics (minor in Russian) and a MA in Bioethics. I am also pre-med and am applying to medical school. I also am a nationally certified EMT. Because of my diverse academic background, I am able to tutor in a wide range of topics, from Economics and math to Russian and ACT prep.
I have prior experience tutoring as a peer tutor while at Case Western. I was available as a tutor for several economics courses, as well as Human Anatomy and Human Physiology. However, I was predominantly used as a macroeconomics and econometrics tutor.
I choose to tutor because I appreciate all that my education has given me and want to share what I have learned with others who may need help. I was given help from TAs, professors, and close friends while I made my way through school.

Q & A

What is your teaching philosophy?

My belief is that learning includes gaining a more thorough understanding of a concept, along with working toward the short-term goals in the structure of any course. My goal as a tutor is for students to feel more confident in their understanding of the material. I also would like students to be able to apply what they have learned more easily, since I believe that an interdisciplinary approach to learning is beneficial to understanding the material and concepts. I also think it is important to not be afraid of saying you don't know something or are not sure of something.
