I'm a recent graduate of the University of Southern Maine where I earned a Bachelor's of Science in Physics, with a minor in Mathematics. While growing I would often help my younger sister with her homework, especially her mathematics. As an adult I've helped my father to better understand algebra and some basic calculus ideas. In addition, as part of an honors course at USM I visited the Portland Housing Authority once a week for two months to help underprivileged children of all ages with their homework or any questions they had about school. All of these experiences have led me to realize that I enjoy helping others learn, and especially seeing that moment when a difficult idea clicks for someone. To achieve this I believe the most important aspect of tutoring is that a lesson be tailor made for the student in question to help them understand, and to promote a desire to learn.
