What is your teaching philosophy?
I am a lifelong avid learner. I enjoy sharing what I know with others. The ability to enthusiastically, passionately, and descriptively share knowledge with one another will only make us stronger as a community, and as a society. As I share with others, I also increase and deepen my knowledge.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
In a first session with a client, I will ask probing questions, with effective listening skills to have an idea of where the student is struggling.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
My primary goal is to assist students, encourage them to leverage their critical thinking skills, and provide them with effective instructions across a wide range of contexts. It is my experience when I probe students on their area of difficulties, I can show them how to break their issues into manageable components to arrive at a solution. I give them with instructions, ways of approaching the matter at hand so they can complete their tasks successfully while gaining new knowledge, skills, and strategies. It is not enough for students to do more difficult tasks in order to reach higher achievement. They also must become aware of how and why the strategies work.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
