I have a deep passion for helping others reach their full potential. I make it my mission in every experience (education, professional and leadership) to be an advocate in helping and supporting others reach their goals. I have first hand experience in working with tutors who helped me reach my full potential. Early on, I struggled with school. I wasn’t the best test-taker, was terrified of public speaking, and had a speech problem. Had it not been for my parents and teachers seeing the potential in me, who knows where I would be today.

Outside of the support from my parents and teachers, the tutoring program I attended also played a key role in helping me reach my full potential as a leader and student. The program provided me and other first-generation college students with the tools and resources needed to make a successful transition from high school to college. It was great for me to have tutors who were patient, helpful, and who challenged my thinking. Being comfortable with asking for help made college much easier for me. I credit the tutoring program with helping me achieve my goal of becoming the first person in family to graduate from college.

After graduating from Indiana University, I made it my mission to give back. I have tutored students through volunteer programs and presented at workshops on college experience, public speaking, and leadership, as well as accepted speaking engagements for GED students. Additionally, I take the time to tutor and help my younger family members with various subjects ranging from math to English to public speaking.

My professional and leadership experiences have prepared me with tools for communication and building a rapport with others. My experiences include serving on several community organization boards, working on four political campaigns, serving as an orientation leader, being a residential assistant, and, currently, working as an assistant account executive for an ad agency in Boston.
