As a math teacher, as difficult as it is to believe for some people, I know that all students can learn. This does not mean in any form that all students can learn in the exact same way. People grow up with different experiences, in different places, with different people, and these factors all contribute to the way they function and think. In the general classroom with 25-40 kids, it is difficult for one teacher to focus on every single student and their particular way of learning. Having a personal tutor to cater to the way a student learns greatly benefits the student, inside and outside of the general classroom. Inside the classroom, they will excel and have a better understanding of the material. Outside the classroom, once the student can articulate the way they learn best they can use this information in their career as well as in day to day life. I love seeing students grow as learners and as people when I work with them, and I love being able to help cultivate that growth and understanding.
As for myself personally, I graduated from Arizona State University Magna Cum Laude with a B.A.E in Secondary Education- Mathematics. I am currently pursuing my M.A. in Mathematics Education through Northern Arizona University. Of course I love to teach math, especially to those students that have a history of hating it, but English is also a great passion and strength of mine. Outside of teaching, I am the sponsor of my school's Korean Club, I coach the varsity pom team, I choreograph the school musicals, and I am a member of a small dance company, so I have a high respect for the arts as well.
