Most of my nursing career was spent at Children's Hospital in Wisconsin...I love kids and I'm passionate about helping children and families reach their highest potential. I live and die by the ideology that a tutor, or any educator at that, should provide their students with an invaluable educational experience, as well as motivate students to want to continue to learn. Outside of tutoring, I love music, skiing, soccer, and tennis.

My love for accounting started in a high school classroom when I looked up and realized that I was the only one not only paying attention, but actually getting excited over debits and credits! That love was nurtured in college when I took Accounting 101 from what had to be one of the most passionate accounting professors ever! I still remember those years of learning fondly now, after over 14 years in the profession. I graduated from Marquette University with a Bachelor of Science (concentration in Accounting) and from The Ohio State University with a Master of Accounting. I am a CPA - certified for over 10 years - with experience in various roles including bookkeeping, audit, and consulting across several different industries. Early on in my career I was offered the opportunity to curate and facilitate trainings for new auditors in an accounting firm of 2,000+ professionals. Drawing from the passion I witnessed in my college classrooms, I have now been creating accounting technical material and training professionals and aspiring professionals at all levels for a little over eight years. I have also had the distinct pleasure to serve as a mentor to many along the way. And that has given me the most joy! My style is very personalized to how you best learn, responsive to your strengths and weaknesses, and informed by loads of real-world application that makes the material more accessible and less "textbook." I am a junior studying Biological Sciences at Marquette University. I have a passion for teaching, and my plans are to continue on to graduate school and potentially become a professor. I currently have experience tutoring high school and college students, primarily in the natural sciences.In the past, I have tutored using a variety of teaching styles. I believe in listening to what has worked (or hasn't worked) for the student previously and applying that to the subject or task at hand.I also understand what it is like to be a student struggling in a subject, despite their best efforts. I have learned many techniques for studying efficiently, organizing information, and managing stress that have helped me through these situations in the past, and I would love to help students through this process if need be.All in all, I am here to work with you to find the best system so that you can achieve.

Education is the building block for a better future. I come from a family of educators, including my parents and grandparents, who instilled in me the importance of education. I want to become a STEM teacher because I want to educate, guide, and inspire students to become the next generation of scientists who can change the world. I believe that my job as a tutor is to encourage students to become lifelong learners by providing a learning environment that simulates critical thinking without fear of asking questions. I try to help students understand the fundamental concepts by instilling confidence in their knowledge, providing various learning techniques, and connections to the real world that inspires curiosity. I find it rewarding to help a student understand a new, challenging concept. By creating a classroom that simulates critical thinking and a desire to learn, I believe I have provided the tools for my students to be successful as they move throughout their college career. Helping to create the next generation of scientists has inspired me to become a better scientist and I will continue to challenge my students as well as myself in the future.

I love the world of STEM - from math, to physics, to chemistry. I guess that's why I became an engineer! I am hoping to help young minds feel inspired and empowered to contribute to the ever-changing field of STEM.I discovered tutoring a few years ago when I realized that the best way for me to master a subject was also by sharing my knowledge of the subject with others - so we could each succeed together. Mentoring is a big passion of mine so by tutoring young minds, it has allowed me to become a role model for some students as they navigate through their academic goals.I have have discovered ways to simplify complex subjects to others by improving note-taking skills, showing step-by-step work/examples, color-coding information, and making the topics within a subject more engaging. This has helped students make tutoring feel more fun rather than feel like a chore or "extra school."I have also managed to navigate a tutoring environment both in-person and virtual so I can easily adapt to current circumstances if needed.

I am a senior in the College of Education at Marquette University. I will be graduating in May, and plan to become an elementary school teacher. I love to teach, and am very focused on the idea of a differentiated classroom that works for all students and types of intelligences. This carries over into tutoring, and I am all for approaching content in different ways in order to find the best fit for my students.

I earned my Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from the University of Dallas in 2012 and my Master of Arts in British, American, and Anglophone Literature from Marquette University in 2019. I have worked in grades k-12 in all subject areas (primarily using a classical curriculum); I have taught rhetoric and composition courses at the freshman and sophomore collegiate level; and I have also co-taught junior and senior collegiate English literature courses centered on a singular topic. I love discussing literature in depth with my students and I particularly enjoy helping them along with the writing process- crafting a thesis, exploring sources, and proofreading! Proofreading and dialoging with students about their papers is, for me, the most joyful and fruitful part of the writing process. Far from being the mundane task of searching for typos of which it is usually thought, this is the part of the writing process where the core of the paper is crafted and the writer able to refine his or her own voice.I am happy to help as a second pair of eyes for a single assignment in the short term or for an extended period of time for a larger assignment. I am happy to help students wade through their reading assignments whether it be a primary literature source or secondary critical or theoretical sources. I can also help with note taking strategies, brainstorming, and paper organization. I would also love to work with any students wanting to focus on a particular author, genre, or era in literature (prose or poetry) purely out of interest or as a hobby of sorts.Best of luck in all your scholarly endeavors!
