I am a surgical resident who enjoyed and excelled in math and science throughout school. I tutored during high school and college and really enjoyed helping students understand new concepts.
I graduated from UW-Whitewater with a Bachelor of Business Administration in General Management and Computer Science in 2019. While I currently work for a Fortune 500 company in IT (specifically mainframe technologies) I still do web development passion projects during my free time. As I tutor quite a few subjects, I am most passionate about coding/programming and teaching new people the fundamentals of programming. The best part of tutoring is the excitement in finally understanding what was once thought unobtainable understanding. Beyond my free time coding, I enjoy taking my dog on adventures, trying new recipes, and working out.

I have a passion for learning and assisting others learn. I believe that the ability to guide someone else as they learn is one of the most rewarding skills one can have. I am a recent graduate from UW-Whitewater where I double majored in History and Political Science and Minored in German. Throughout the last three years of my undergraduate career I worked for the on-campus tutoring service. During this time I was a supplemental instructor for Historical Perspectives and College Literacy. I believe that tutoring is truly the most effective method by which to master subjects that are difficult. I understand the challenges that come with learning, I struggled with many of them myself. It is through hard work, determination and a little help that these challenges can be overcome.
I attained my Bachelor of Arts from the University of Wisconsin Whitewater as a double major in Speech and Journalism. Right after graduation, I did a news writing internship at WGN working on the 9 P.M. and 5:30 P.M. newscasts. While I was briefly able to perform my dream job, this was 2008 when the job market across the country hit a record low point. While at WGN, its parent company, Tribune Company, declared bankruptcy; I quickly realized I needed a B plan.A couple years later, I found myself back in school working towards certification as a court reporter and working as a nanny for several area families. I've found that working with kids is a passion of mine and something that I excel at. Coupled with my well developed English, reading, and writing skills, it seemed only natural to me to pursue tutoring students in those subjects in addition to math.I've found that patience is the best tool in your arsenal when working with kids. I always encourage them to try things on their own first, and then I offer guidance and instruction to help them reach conclusions. Seeing their sense of pride and accomplishment is always rewarding. In my experience, sometimes confidence is the only thing preventing a struggling student from being a successful one.In my spare time, I enjoy reading, swimming, jogging, hiking, yoga, and playing with my puppy, Milo.
Each classroom has its own diverse and unique community. My role as the teacher will be to assist each child in developing their own potential, confidence, and learning styles. I believe that all children have something special that they can bring to the classroom community. I am committed to creating a safe, equitable, and welcoming environment that supports students growth. I am committed to encouraging my students to express themselves and embrace the differences of others. I will incorporate hands-on learning, social-emotional learning, cooperative learning, and individual work that engages and activate students' learning. I will present a curriculum that will incorporate each different learning style and accommodations for students, as well as culturally relevant practices.
