I enjoy teaching immensely! :) I had the opportunity to start when I was 15 years old as a student teacher for a local summer school class. My teachers told me I'd be great for I have TONS of patience and really connect with all children even on the spectrum and EBD. I then went on to create an apprenticeship program in high school primarily focusing on early childhood education. I completed this, went into college and then was given yet another opportunity to share my teaching gift. I wanted to expand my horizon and work with even more youth to show them self esteem, to believe in themselves, teach them confidence, and that they can accomplish anything they put their minds to, I then opened my Community Theater for the Arts. I produce and direct both musicals and plays, for 20+years. I work and teach camps for ages 2-90 years old. Teaching is a STRONG passion of mine. I believe education can be fun, and as a teacher I am given the opportunity to shape the child's future through education. What a gift it is to have students coming back year after year and upon graduation seeking me out to say thanks. I enjoy the arts, and spending time with family and friends and my new little 7 month old little 5 pound puppy. She may or may not show up for a little incentive at the end of our session. I truly hope I get to work with your child, we will have FUN learning no mater what subject it may be. I've even substitute taught from pre-k through 12th grade and enjoyed it all. :) I look forward to working with your child for many sessions to come :)

I'm a history graduate and college writing tutor currently working as an archivist! I love helping with writing essays and teaching people that history can be fun. I have experience with tutoring high school and college students across disciplines within writing (and also assisting with things like brainstorming and college application essays). I believe that learning happens through conversation about your writing - I think my students get the most out of sessions when we engage in meaningful discussion about what you'd like to work on and how we might go about that.
Dear Prospective Students and Parents,I have been a teacher -- a professional educator -- at the college/university level for more than 30 years.I have a B.A. in English and political science from St. Norbert College (De Pere, WI), an M.A. in English (concentration: Rhetoric and Composition) from Loyola University Chicago, an M.Ed. in educational psychology (concentration: developmental education) from Loyola University Chicago, and Ph.D. in Quantitative Foundations of Education (concentration: educational psychology) from the University of Iowa.I specialize in teaching and tutoring a variety of subject areas to students currently attending high school and/or college. However, I am also effective in working with "kiddos," those in elementary and middle school. (Please see my profile for specific subjects for tutoring sessions.)I have long been recognized by colleagues and students alike as a "master teacher." In fact, I have been trained to teach pre-service and in-service teachers how to teach such subjects as English Language Arts and Writing.I look forward to meeting and working with you [or your child(ren)] in a manner that allows my students to develop and strengthen the abilities and knowledge I know they already possess. Indeed, I want to challenge and support them along their individual educational pathway.I can reasonably assure them that I can increase their content knowledge, their general/specific/transferable learning strategies, and their self-confidence in their abilities if they are willing to put forth time and effort. As long as they are willing to genuinely engage in their learning, there is absolutely nothing that they cannot accomplish!!!Should you have any general concerns or any specific questions about anything, please just let me know.Thank you, in advance, for considering me as your tutor.Sincerely,Suzanne S.
I have a Ph.D in Chemistry from Texas A&M University and have spent years teaching in college classrooms as well as tutoring in-person and online. I was called to be first and foremost an educator. I have successfully helped students from diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, including students with no former chemistry coursework as well as adult learners who have returned to school after some time away.I create an effective learning environment that includes strategies for problem-solving and test-taking. I have received many student evaluations over the years, and they highlight my ability to make difficult topics understandable. They also speak about my patience, positivity and good humor which puts students at ease and helps create an interactive working relationship where students are comfortable asking and answering questions.I look forward to partnering with you to succeed in your academic endeavors. Please check my availability calendar and reach out with any questions or to schedule a session.
