My name is Ariel, and I tutor students for the LSAT, English, Reading Comprehension, and Standardized Testing. I have a full year of classroom teaching experience where I taught English to 1st through 6th grade students. I studied for the LSAT off and on for 2+ years, hitting every plateau imaginable until I started from scratch and constructed my own studying method that allowed me to bring my score from the 150s into the mid-170s. Learning and education is my passion, and it is my goal to make every lesson fun and engaging, while also valuable. I am particularly intuitive when it comes to identifying a student's strengths/weaknesses, innovating strategies to target gaps in learning, and implementing strategies tailored to the student's particular needs. I'm now living in New York City pursuing a career in casting and producing theater. Although I have found my passion in the arts, I find great fulfillment tutoring math and science, because I think it's important for students to know they can succeed in these challenging subjects. I am a recent graduate of the University of Chicago, where I received Bachelor of Arts degrees in English Literature and Linguistics. I have been able to pursue my passion for languages and literature in my career as well as my studies. I have taught English as a second language, critical reading, grammar, and academic and professional writing to students of diverse backgrounds and proficiency levels, including incoming university students, business professionals in South Korea, and fifth and sixth graders in south side Chicago. I am especially excited when I get to help students work on their writing skills, and the breakthroughs my students have had in learning to express their own unique voices and perspectives clearly and articulately are some of our favorite teaching moments.

I am a current Master's Student studying Philosophy with a wide range of academic interests. I graduated with General Honors from the University of Chicago in 2018 with degrees in Statistics and East Asian Languages and Civilizations. I enjoy helping students achieve their full potential and primarily tutor standardized tests and college prep. Outside of tutoring I spend my time reading and playing board games.

I graduated from Carthage College in 2016 with a Bachelor's Degree in Theater Performance and Music. While I was there, I worked as a tutor in the Writing Center; it was there that I realized I how much I love tutoring. I'm an actress and a musician; I love Shakespeare and detective novels and going on adventures. I'm very kind and understanding, and I know how to have fun with something even when it's stressful.

I am a pre-Occupational Therapy student majoring in psychology with minors in neuroscience and art. I will be graduating with honors from the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities in May, and I will begin Washington University School of Medicine's Doctorate of Occupational Therapy Program this Fall. I am a current sophomore at Brown University, where I study Applied Math and Urban Studies. I have tutored in a high school ESL classroom, as a private tutor, in a local community center, and on online platforms. Since graduation I've worked for a large diversified manufacturing company in one of their leadership rotational programs. I'm Richard and I love teaching. There are few things more rewarding than being able to create enthusiasm for a subject area. My favorites are math, physics and music. I grew up Spanish bilingual and can teach in both languages having TA'd college level Spanish courses. I also lived in Germany for a year and can help students with that. I am well versed in all types of questions the students will be faced with on homework or exams. Also, in addition to my teaching experience at Purdue, I have been teaching a one week course in Shanghai yearly since 2008 to prepare Chinese Occupational Health and Safety professionals to take the Certified Industrial Hygienist exam and part of what I help them with are some of the tricks of the trade for successfully taking these types of exams. I also helped my daughter prepare for her GRE exam when her GRE Boot Camp program was suddenly cancelled my prep work with her helped her increase her math score approximately 100 points.
